In Holborn there is the mouthwatering combination of 2015 WRC 'One's To Watch' award winners Southbound plus another WRC favourite Connor Selby, who recently opened for The Who at Wembley Stadium no less! Meanwhile, in Soho there is the delectable Chantel McGregor (pictured), who also walked away with our WRC 'Best Blues Performance' award back in 2014. Whatever your choice, rest assured that you will not be disappointed!

After 12 million album sales and four Grammy nominations, Goo Goo Dolls remain at the top of their game. That’s very much in evidence on today's Track Of The Day ‘Indestructible’ taken from their forthcoming twelfth album ‘Miracle Pill’, which is out on Friday 13th September. ‘Indestructible’ is brimming with the insistent melodies and driving energy which are the hallmarks of Goo Goo Dolls’ finest work, and opens the album in anthemic style. John Rzeznik’s emotive lyrics offer a reminder that there’s hope in the most challenging of circumstances. It’s a theme that’s prevalent throughout the album. After a 20th anniversary tour in support of their smash hit album ‘Dizzy Up The Girl’, the pair immediately hit the studio late in 2018. Always aiming to stay fresh and moving forward, the result is a collection of songs which delivers musicianship that is as engaging as ever, with lyrics that reflect the current landscape of instant gratification and relief that everyone seems to be seeking.

Vex Red are back and on full form with a brand new EP 'Give Me The Dark', coming out on Friday 4th October, having already released a new single 'Tarantula' at the end of July, taken from the EP, which is today's Track Of The Day. They exploded in 2002 internationally with their debut album ‘Start With A Strong And Persistent Desire’ via Virgin/EMI and built a very loyal following. After a hiatus, the band regrouped with a hunger to create new music and get back on the road. Their 2016 single ‘Burn This Place’ teased more music to come and they played a number of UK shows. They are now back, reborn and reenergised to Rock, including a headline show at Camden Assembly on Friday 13th September.

From 4pm till 9pm today, Camden Rocks presents another all-day Rock-n-Roll gig featuring Dead Label + Arcane Militia + Mother Vulture + Black Orchids - all live at The Monarch. Meanwhile, at 2pm today Cry Baby and The Hoochie Coochie Boys (Video Of The Day) take to the stage at Blues At Barleylands, Barleylands Social Club, Barleylands Road, Billericay, Essex CM11 2UF. They're a five-piece Rhythm and Blues outfit, based in and around the Potteries, consisting of Rob Wilkinson vocals/harp, Vince Cutcliffe guitar/vocals, Andy Carr drums/vocals, Mark Hargreaves keyboards/vocals and Chris Bevington bass.

"All the remaining songs in the setlist were taken from Ben’s latest pair of albums, ‘Anytime You Need Me’ (2018) and ‘Time Has Come’ (2016). It made for interesting listening, as the earlier album had been a bit too smooth for my taste, whereas the more recent one was harder hitting and more guitar based. In fact Ben’s guitar solos dominated the proceedings, with the ‘Time Has Come’ songs getting suitably ‘roughed up’ and being all the better for it." With 'Reader Of The Runes – Divination', due to be released on Friday 30th August, Italian Folk Power Metal band ElvenkIng start a completely new chapter in the band’s existence. Founded in 1997, Elvenking have established themselves among the leading acts in Europe when it comes to powerful Metal music with Folk and Pagan influences, that has resulted in nine albums so far. Expect big melodies, folk tunes, lots of acoustic breaks and heavy stuff in their tenth - a concept album that takes an adventurous journey into a mystic world of runes, magic and ancient powers, far away from the visible. Musically, it is definitely an album that breathes freshness while still being totally loyal to the unique sound of the band.

Today's Video Of The Day is Welsh Cosmic Doomers Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard's trippy, new track 'The Spaceships Of Ezekiel’, taken from their latest album ‘Yn Ol I Annwn’, released in March. Welsh for 'Return To The Underworld’, it's the third part of a trilogy of albums from MWWB that began with ‘Noeth Ac Anoeth’ in 2015 and 2017’s ‘Y Proffwyd Dwyll’ (which got them nominated for the Welsh Music Prize in 2017). The eight songs that comprise ‘Yn Ol I Annwn’ sees the band, consisting of Paul Michael Davies, Jessica Ball, Wes Leon, James Carrington and Stuart Sinclair, delve deeper into their collective influences, embracing full on Space Rock, atmospheric film soundtracks, melancholic acoustic interludes, Psychedelia, cosmic moog’s and percussion, moments of introspection and light … and of course, large helpings of Doom. The fat riffs, big hooks and endless space grooves are all present and correct, as the band prepare for two upcoming shows at the ArcTanGent Festival next Thursday 15th August and London's Chaos Theory Festival on 29th February next year.
