Though hailing from the Arizona deserts, Hogjaw are no strangers to European shores. Last year, the band played more than 40 headline shows across mainland Europe, supporting the release of their new album, ‘Way Down Yonder’ (on Snakefarm Records). From late September through to mid-November 2017, Hogjaw visited 11 different countries, playing to sold-out houses along the way. Now, in 2018, it’s time for the UK to feel the power of The ’Jaw first-hand, with a debut headline run confirmed for October including London's O2 Islington Academy 2 on Wednesday 10th. Hogjaw are four longstanding friends (“Four fingers folded into a fist”, as they put it): JB Jones (vocals and guitar), Jimmy Rose (lead guitar), Elvis DD (bass) and Kwall (drums). ‘Way Down Yonder’ is their sixth studio album and sees the boys delivering 11 tracks of “hard hitting Southern-fried electric guitar rock”, pulling no punches and leaving not one goddam shot on the bar.

Stonedeaf Festival is a new festival organised and promoted entirely by fans, and seeks to recapture the spirit of the original one-day Monsters of Rock festival. It will take place at Newark Showground on Saturday 25th August, with camping available on the Friday and Saturday nights. Confirmed are Skid Row, The Quireboys, The Graham Bonnet Band, Anvil, Massive Wagons, Hand of Dimes, Chrome Molly and Fallen Mafia, with DJ hellhound spinning the discs between the bands. "However, it was 1990’s mega-hit ‘Wind Of Change’ that proved to be among the evening’s highlights. A song synonymous with the fall of the Berlin Wall, the band even replicated the structure visually, via the huge video screens that covered most of the stage. Led by Klaus Meine, there was some heavy metal whistling of Premiership-standards. The set ended with a blazing finale of ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ after a brilliant ‘Still Loving You’. It’s quite simply fantastic to see a great set from a band that’s been in the business for 50 years and still hitting it up strong, quite simply the perfect end to a classic night. That brought day one of Ramblin’ Man Fair to a close. If that is the last time I see them - well The Scorpions I salute you!" Slam dunk winners of the best tats on display at Camden Rocks, their atmospheric set included seven songs, 'One Of Us' , 'Unknown', Follow You Down', 'Used', their excellent and very first single from the album 'Take A Long Hard Look', 'Scarred' and 'Spray' - the title track from their 2002 album, testimony to the time when they were voted ‘Best British Heavy Metal Band’ in Metal Hammer. Holliday (think Daryl out of 'The Walking Dead') is the perfect frontman for their brand of passionate, unconstrained anger that morphs into melancholy toughness that meets a Metallic dirtiness, although Rob did show his lighter side by lobbing some merchandise into the crowd and shouting "nice catch!" "In fact a consensus of opinion concluded that we actually saw the best band of the day, first at The Underworld, at Midday! The last time we saw London based Rock group Dirty Thrills was last September at a special launch party for their latest album, ‘Heavy Living’ just down the road at The Crowndale (formerly the Purple Turtle) - where these guys proved once again that they are well and truly on the up. Indeed, we first saw Louis James - lead vocals and harmonica, Jack Fawdry - guitar, backing vocals, Steve Corrigan - drums and Aaron Plows – bass, back in August 2015 plus we also saw them on the Ramblin' Man Fair Rising Stage in 2016, and in 2017 they returned to Ramblin' Man on the Grooverider Stage - affirmation if needed that Dirty Thrills were going places." We continue our Stone Free Festival countdown with Tyketto who are at the Indigo at the O2 Arena at 2.45pm on Sunday 17th June. Their debut album ’Don’t Come Easy’, is considered a landmark release among Melodic Hard Rock albums of the late 80’s/early 90’s. While the band has continued to put out high quality recordings ever since, fans and critics alike hold it in especially high regard. Following their most recent studio album ‘Reach’ in 2016, Tyketto played Frontiers Rock Festival IV in Milan last year and performed ‘Don’t Come Easy’ in its entirety, along with other gems from their repertoire. With a line-up comprised of founding members Danny Vaughn (vocals) and Michael Clayton Arbeeny (drums), plus guitar whizz Chris Green and keyboard player Ged Rylands (TEN), Tyketto co-headlined Day 1 of the festival and blew the roof off with their performance of this classic album from back to front (yes, back to front!). Cameras were there to capture every moment and this unique performance was released on CD/DVD (see today's Video Of The Day).

With the excellent Camden Rocks Festival over for another year - today we turn our attention to this year’s Stone Free Festival which is just two weeks away, with more exciting additions to the line-up recently being announced. Pete Spiby & the Beat Alls have been announced to open the Indigo stage on Saturday, before slots from Stone Broken (Track Of The Day) and Stoner Rock icons Orange Goblin. Meanwhile, Nitroville will kick off proceedings on the Orange Amps Stage, with StoneWire opening the stage on Sunday. On Saturday night, the fun continues at the Indigo at The O2 as Shot Through The Heart will be playing all the best Hard Rock, AOR and Glam Metal covers. Elsewhere, the vinyl fair – free to the general public – will take place between 10am and 6pm on Saturday only, with specially selected dealers presenting an array of tempting vinyl delights. In the cinema, two classic films will be on show – on Saturday, party time will begin with the most excellent Wayne’s World, while Sunday’s delight features the iconic sci-fi glory that is Barbarella. Watch out as we highlight some of the must-see bands over the coming fortnight.

Today sees the launch of the second of two new Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festivals in Leicester, featuring award winning headline and guest acts including legendary names and some of the best new talent on the Blues circuit. Don't forget, as a very special thank you to everyone who has supported these festivals and bought tickets, anyone with tickets from yesterday's Newport Festival can also use them at Leicester Arena today - a real 'two for one!' With headliner Walter Trout, who has just won 'Lifetime Contribution' at the European Blues awards, it's bound to be another cracking day, with great support from Ken Pustelnik's Groundhogs, Ben Poole and the Mark Pontin Group - to name but a few.
