One of the few downsides to Ramblin' Man Fair this year was that we missed Austin Gold, the only new British band on the Main stage, open proceedings on the Sunday (Video Of The Day). The band consisting of David James Smith (vocals & guitar), Lee Churchill (bass), Russell Hill (Hammond & keyboards) and Chris Ogden (drums), have been building a reputation as one of the best live acts around. Indeed, they released their limited edition new 6-track EP on the Friday of Ramblin' Man, following up their debut album 'Before Dark Clouds' which received amazing reviews from the Rock press, Planet Rock, BBC Radio 2 and many other Rock stations. With this new release and constant touring, the band continue to attract a major following throughout the World.

Post Death Metallers Oceans released a brand new cover EP entitled 'Cover Me In Darkness' last Friday via Nuclear Blast including cover versions of songs by Alice In Chains, Radiohead, Deftones and even Alessia Cara; the latter including a feature by Anna Murphy (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie). It follows the release of their widely popular debut EP 'Into The Void' earlier this year, with the band currently working on their debut full-length album. Oceans have been added to the bill of label mates Cellar Darling's European tour this fall, opening shows on most German dates, along with fellow Nuclear Blast band, Forever Still. Oceans will also be touring Europe in early 2020, supporting label mates Equilibrium.

The WRC were very sorry to learn of the recent death of Kast Off Kinks and former Kinks keyboardist Ian Gibbons at the age of 67. Last December the Kast Off Kinks performed at Wrinklystock 7 (pictured), helping us raise another £1,000 for our nominated charities. We would like to pass on our deepest sympathy to Nadia and all Ian’s friends and family and would like to dedicate today's Video Of The Day of 'You Really Got Me' in Ian's memory.

Today's Blues On The Radio Track Of The Day is filled with music from The Achievers, Coco Montoya, Bruce Katz, Redfern, Hutchinson & Ross, Bobby Rush, When Rivers Meet, Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse, JP Soars, Professor Louie & The Crowmatix and, ahead of tonight's sold out 5th Anniversary Celebration show at The Tuesday Night Music Club, The Comrades Club, Coulsdon CR5 2NF, a couple of tracks from the participants - namely Kyla Brox (pictured), Half Deaf Clatch and Matt Long (with Catfish and Katie Bradley).

Big Boy Bloater And The LiMiTs will be hitting the road once again in October for a run of seven shows including Camden's The Black Heart in London on Saturday 19th October, playing songs from 2018's album 'Pills' as well as their foot-stomping live favourites. Last year, the band, consisting of Big Boy Bloater – vocals/guitar, Matt Cowley - drums and Steven Oates – bass, were voted #2 Blues Album of 2018 by Classic Rock Magazine, as ‘Pills’ deservedly received rave reviews upon its release.

Leading German Melodic Rockers Freedom Call, who celebrate their 20th anniversary this Summer, are set to release their utterly uplifting tenth studio album, ‘M.E.T.A.L.’, on Steamhammer/SPV on Friday 23rd August, and their first single from the album, ‘111’ is today's Video Of The Day. Since their inception, Freedom Call have become synonymous with soaring choruses, harmonic melody laden guitar licks, hard driving grooves, atmospheric messages and exuberantly irrepressible optimistic lyrics. ‘M.E.T.A.L.’ was recorded with live drummer Kevin Kott (Masterplan), however, the band will now tour with a new line up consisting of front man Chris Bay, lead guitarist Lars Rettkowitz, Italian bassist Francesco Ferraro and drummer Timmi Breideband.

New York's seminal Hardcore Punk crossover legends CRO-MAGS are back - freshly signed Europe-wide with Arising Empire - releasing brand new EP 'Don't Give In' at the beginning of this month (see today's Track Of The Day). Founded and fronted by Harley Flanagan, they have also announced headlining dates across Europe in support of their landmark album, 'Best Wishes', 30th Anniversary! Starting in Essen, Germany, on Friday 27th September, the trek will also see the band make appearances at London's The Underworld two nights later, plus France and Austria, among other countries, as well as a stop at Belgium’s Limburg Hardcore Fest. Support will come from US based crossover newcomers, Red Death.

Glitter Machine dropped their second single 'Take The Pain' from their debut album, 'Hanging Out For Fame', on Friday, which is today's Video Of The Day. Having first emerged in 2018, this quartet stuck out from the off. Over the last couple of years, the band comprising of vocalist and guitarist John McKeown, bass player Rik Hornby, drummer Paul Stone and guitarist Dominic McGuiness, have begun to have a real impact upon the music industry. 'Take The Pain' is a true testament to the band’s effortless ability to write deep meaningful compelling songs. The single showcases McKeown’'s raw and gritty vocals which sets Glitter Machine apart. They will be ready to mix it all up again when they go back into the studio later this year to record their second album; a musical treat well worth waiting for as they look forward to a continually brighter future.

"It may be a different line up, and a slightly different sound, but it’s still all about Nathan James and his incredible voice. Although take nothing away from the other five members – great musicians all. The short set includes a number of radio friendly classics that has the crowd singing along with James, although never able to match his presence, including tracks like 'Taking The Blame', 'Holy Water', and the final 'Until I Die'. The latter being restarted when microphone trouble caused a minor crisis before the placated James finally provided the closing number to the standard that the crowd had come to expect." Hard Rock band Big River release their long awaited debut album titled ‘Redemption’ via Trouserphonic on Friday 16th August. The album will see the bands own collection of songs that they personally feel captures the personality of Big River. Recorded over a two year period at Ranscombe Studios in Rochester, Kent, under the guidance of producer Jim Riley, these songs show how diverse a band Big River can be, all the while remaining true to their signature sound. The band, consisting of Adam Bartholomew (vocals), Damo Fawsett (guitar), Ant Wellman (bass) and Joe Martin (drums), had written close to 30 songs for this album, however, only nine originally recorded songs remain, with a running time of just over half an hour. 'Redemption' is the sound of a band taking you on a journey through their innermost feelings; the lyrics are heartfelt and tell a story, the music is from deep down inside their souls. Three years of playing together on the live circuit has given the band their own identity playing honest, no frills, Hard Rock music.

Following the publication of our August Bulletin, it was really good to hear from New England WRC member Dave Riley reminding us that South Carolinian-born Hannah Wicklund is indeed coming to the UK in the Fall. In fact 'Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin’ Stones' release their third album on Strawberry Moon Records on Friday 13th September, produced by Sadler Vaden, guitarist for Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, which received rave reviews when it was released in the aforementioned USA last year. The album dovetails her nationwide UK Roadstars tour with Piston and Gorilla Riot in October, which stops off at London's Islington O2 Academy 2 on Friday 11th. The 10-track self-released album was recorded in Nashville, and is a fresh take on Wicklund's musical influences drawn from 60's, 70's and 80's guitar-driven Rock.
