- Danny's Black Heart 23/8/19
Following the release in June of his first solo album in eleven years - 'Myths, Legends and Lies' - singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and storyteller, Danny Vaughn, continued his current UK tour at London's Black Heart in Camden last night. Danny is best-known for his involvement with Waysted (1985-1987) and famed for his flourishing voice-work with Melodic Rockers Tyketto. Vaughn is recognised worldwide for his melodic, powerful and emotional vocals, and it's a 14-track album that Danny always wanted to make, released via Townsend Music. Following the recent release of Iamthemorning’s new studio album 'The Bell', to worldwide praise from media and fans alike, the Russian duo, comprising of virtuoso classical pianist Gleb Kolyadin and charismatic vocalist Marjana Semkina have filmed their song 'Six Feet', which is today's Video Of The Day. Iamthemorning’s dedication to writing forward-thinking and thought-provoking music has seen them create a new album of impressive depth and playability. 'The Bell' is a modern blend of Rock, Classical and Folk, making use of 19th Century song cycles – a style established by Schubert – that cohesively tells 10 individual stories. The duo will also be playing numerous shows in support of 'The Bell', beginning with European dates with Riverside in September plus headline shows in The Netherlands and the UK including London's Courtyard Theatre Studio on Tuesday 1st October.

The good news is that Charming Liars kick off their UK tour at The Borderline tonight supporting Night Riots. The bad news is that this is the iconic London venue's very last live gig before it closes its doors for the final time. Following the release of their debut album 'Thought, Flesh and Bone' in March, the Anglo-American trio have just revealed an acoustic video for the graceful and poignant track ‘Insomnia’ which is today's Track Of The Day. The band then have two further headline shows in Coventry and Southampton before joining The Faim for a string of UK shows, and then finally jet back to the USA to support Angels & Airwaves on tour.

Also tonight, at The Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ, the legendary Geno Washington & The Yo Yos, featuring members of the super tight Ram Jam Band, will be playing a blistering set of pared down street Soul, R'n'B and house rockin' Blues. With support from guitarist/vocalist Peter Hammerton, doors open at 8.15pm with music from 9-11pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted admission.
- Killing Joke's Malicious Damage 21/8/19
Gatherers of the world, Killing Joke release 'Malicious Damage - Live At The Astoria 12.10.03' on Friday 6th September, through Killing Joke Records/Cadiz Music. The concert was filmed and recorded at the legendary venue in the heart of London’s Soho. A multi-camera shoot captures the passion and brutal violence of Killing Joke’s performance, their line up that night being Jaz Coleman: vocals, Geordie Walker: guitar, Ted Parsons: drums. Nick Walker: keyboards and, sadly, one of the last recorded concerts to feature bass player Paul Raven before his untimely death in 2007.

"It was great to see 'Sister Mary' appear again, this time superbly performed by Tate's daughter Emily. After a brief pause, the band are back to launch into a selection of cuts from the 'Empire' album. 'Best I Can' is followed by 'Empire' and then its a more reflective mood for 'Silent Lucidity'. The gig closes with 'Jet City Woman'." That was part of our take on Geoff Tate at London's The Underworld back in December 2018 (pictured and today's Video Of The Day), and Tate forms part of a mouthwatering line-up at Stonedeaf 2019 this Saturday 24th August at the Newark Showground with headliner Glenn Hughes supported by Inglorious, Wayward Sons, Massive, Diamond Head, The Amorettes, Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons and Samarkind.
- Haunt The Woods Amethyst 21/8/19
Today's Track Of The Day is ‘Amethyst’, the new single by ambient Cornish Rock band Haunt The Woods, ahead of their headline show at London’s Old Blue Last on Tuesday 10th September. With close-up shots of the band performing, accentuating the track’s intimate sentiment, the video is a touching and emotive accompaniment to the expansive verses and explosive choruses which underpin singer Jonathan Stafford’s expressive vocals, reminiscent of Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley. Blending sounds from Alternative, Prog, Folk and Pop and channelling influences from the likes of Pink Floyd, Muse, Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, Haunt The Woods have crafted a distinctive sound, glistening with ambient swells and underpinned by expressive rhythms and masterly songwriting.
- Water Rats Arielle 20/8/19
Classic Rock Folk guitarist and singer-songwriter Arielle, from Austin, Texas, will be playing London's Water Rats this Friday 23rd August. Arielle recently completed a two-month headline tour of the US, following her eighth music release, 'Suspension/Dimension'. In 2018, her independently released EP 'Mind Lion' was featured on over 11 Billboard charts for eight weeks. Arielle studied at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood at age 17, as well as London’s Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. She also appeared in the 2008 West End London production of 'We Will Rock You' as a guitar player, hired by Brian May. Indeed her signature guitar “Arielle” will be released by Brian May Guitars in early 2020. The guitar, co-designed with May, is based on Arielle’s handmade Two-Tone guitar which she built when she was 16 years old.
- Wildhearts Diagnosis 20/8/19
The Wildhearts have announced the release of their six track mini album, 'Diagnosis', on Friday 4th October through Graphite Records, which features five brand new songs. 'Diagnosis' follows the success of 'Renaissance Men', their first full-length studio album in ten years, which gave the band’s classic line up of Ginger, CJ, Ritchie and Danny, their highest chart entry since 1994’s 'P.H.U.Q', when it debuted at number 11. To coincide with its release, the band have not only unveiled today's Video Of The Day of 'Renaissance Men', but they will also play a ten date UK tour starting at Brighton's Concorde 2 on Saturday 5th October which concludes at Dover's Booking Hall on Tuesday 22nd October. Creatively brilliant, The Wildhearts play a distinctive fusion of Hard Rock, perfectly complimented by contemporary melodies. With a career spanning 30 years, the band helped change the landscape of British Rock through the 90’s, and to this day they haven’t shown any sign of slowing down. Miss these shows at your peril.

Today's latest Blues On The Radio Track Of The Day continues its preview of The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival which takes place this weekend in Colne, including Sean Webster Band, Sari Schorr (pictured), Goofa Dust, Anthony Gomes, Greg Coulson, The Cadillac Kings, Tom C Walker, Gerry Jablonski Band, Ben Hemming, Chris Bevington and Giles Robson Band, all bracketed by two tracks from Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse, who also play The Tuesday Night Music Club, The Comrades Club, Coulsdon CR5 2NF, tonight.

"Suffice to say that once the sound problems were sorted out, Massive cranked up the tempo as they weaved around the small stage wringing every possible sinew out of their performance with their full frontal Aussie Rock including 'One By One', fans favourite 'Blood Money Blues', 'Dancefloor', 'Burn The Sun', 'Ghost', new single 'Calm Before The Storm' from their forthcoming album and finished with 'Now Or Never'." That was part of our take on Massive at Ramblin' Man Fair back in July 2017 (pictured and today's Video Of The Day), and the Oz Rockers form part of a mouthwatering line-up at Stonedeaf 2019this Saturday 24th August at the Newark Showground with headliner Glenn Hughes supported by Inglorious, Wayward Sons, Geoff Tate, Diamond Head, The Amorettes, Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons and Samarkind.
