Having just won an international award for his book, 'Cream - A People's History', Manchester-based music writer Richard Houghton last week published his new book, 'All Down The Line - A People's History of the Rolling Stones 1972 North American Tour' through Spenwood Books, of which not only is today's Video Of The Day of 'Happy' filmed on that very same 'Exile On Main Street Tour', but you also have the chance of winning a copy of the book in our latest WRC competition. Indeed, 1972 saw the Rolling Stones performing on American soil for the first time since a fan’s fatal stabbing by Hell’s Angels at Altamont three years earlier, and half a century later, 300 fans look back at the most infamous tour in Rock ‘n’ Roll history, from opening night in Vancouver to tour finale (and Mick Jagger’s 29th birthday) at Madison Square Garden. Simply e-mail wrinklyrockers11@aol.com by Sunday 15th January 2023 and tell us Mick's birthday (editor’s decision is final). Finally, the winner of our ‘Gonna See All My Friends - A People’s History of Fairport Convention’ book competition, was Sue Brown, who correctly pointed out that their nationality was British!
