  • WRC. Video. Erased. 1/10/2015

Fingers crossed that our Steven Wilson Royal Albert Hall Photo Gallery doesn't go the same way as yesterday's Video Of The Day! Suffice to say the WRC were sent a legal notice about the copyrighted content in our video. As a result, the video was removed from YouTube! Not the first time this has happened either - hence our 'stewards permitting' comment re: our coverage before the gig! Such a shame, as at the end of the day, our only intention is to share our love of music through our website and certainly was not for any financial gain! Needless to say we don't hold any grudges but in protest we will not only be cancelling our planned review of a truly memorable night of Wilson/Porcupine Tree but will also continue today with yesterday's Vid Of The Day even though it has been removed!

  • Up Next - Thunder! 23 June 2015

"Following Michael Schenker onto the Main Stage were Thunder who more than justified their billing (many of the fans here would have been happy for Danny Bowes and the boys to take the headline slot) and if this ‘one-off’ comeback really was a flash in the pan then it proved to be a blast. Overlooking the fact he dances like the proverbial uncle at a wedding (accentuated by his suit jacket), Danny Bowes is both one of the UK's best and most precise rock voices, and a consummate ringleader. A magnificent rendition of 'Love Walked In' (see Vid Of The Day) rivalled Schenker’s Scorpions numbers with a great solo from Luke Morley. They also knock out the other hits: ‘Back Street Symphony’ ‘Dirty Love’ and of course their cover of ‘Gimme Some Lovin’ which has the whole crowd grinning from ear to ear. It’s like ice cream in your ear. In a good way of course ! It is a joyful celebration of the band that gave us such a fantastic 20 years, and if all we get to see of them is occasional one-offs like this (Xmas 2011?) then we'll treasure every moment. If this is indeed the very last time we see them, then this was quite a goodbye." That was our WRC take on Thunder at High Voltage in 2011 and they're still going strong supporting ZZ Top at Wembley arena tomorrow night. See you there!

  • Danielz In Kent Already! 22 April 2015

The star of our forthcoming Wrinklystock IV - none other than Danielz - was interviewed on BBC Radio Kent on Monday night by Dominic King. And you can listen to what the T.Rextasy frontman had to say here (Danielz is featured at 2.26.12). Meanwhile tickets are still flying out the door for the Charity Gig at The Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford, on Saturday 21st November for the band that is accepted as the world’s only official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan & T.Rex - and the only band endorsed and approved by Marc Bolan’s family, estate, original ex-members of T.Rex and Bolan’s catalogue management! It's going to be be a sell out just like last year so don't miss out and get your tickets here!

  • Hi Ho Silver Lining! 9 May 2015

Every cloud has a silver lining so they say. We had some technical issues with our Route 66 Track Of The Day yesterday and whilst we were trying to sort it out - presenter Rory Auskerry told us he was about to interview seventeen year old Blues guitarist/singer/songwriter Aaron Keylock - and pushed a YouTube clip of Aaron our way. The rest is history and consequently the Vid is our 'Video Of The Day' and the even better news is that Aaron is on the bill at Ramblin' Man. He's also featured on Rory's show on Sunday at 6pm here with the interview to be broadcast the week after on Sunday 17th May! Phew - bring it on!

  • Star Tours! 24/5/16

As promised on this week's Route 66 Track Of The Day - check out a couple of tracks from the new solo Eric Clapton album 'I Still Do'. Host Rory Auskerry also plays new tracks from Doomsday Outlaw, Welsh guitarist Bedwyr Morgan and Sussex based Blues guitarist Sam Jefferson. Along with the music news, Rory spins some John Fogerty (pictured by the WRC at Hyde Park in July 2012), Queen, Slash, Tony Spinner, Ted Nugent and Bob Dylan. Oh, and Chewbacca makes an appearance in poorly masked attempt at becoming a viral internet sensation!

  • Physical Graffiti - Slowhand 22/5/16

No this is not the new Route 66 logo pictured - in fact this piece of graffiti was actually spotted on the walls of Pure Towers this week by host Rory Auskerry! Anyway, tune into the show here tonight at 6pm to find out more plus you can also listen to a track from Eric Clapton's new album 'I Still Do'.

  • Get Ahead Get A Hat! 9/5/16

Joining Blues On The Radio host Richard Dunning live in the studio last week, ahead of his appearance at The Tuesday Night Music Club, was the great Troy Redfern who starred at BluesRockFest last year. On today's Track Of The Day Troy chooses the music and chats plus Rich has all the great new releases and the Independent Blues Broadcasters Associations picks of the month. On the subject of BluesRockFest and indeed titfers - our Vid Of The Day is the Jack J Hutchinson Band who are playing at Leo's Red Lion on Saturday 24th September. Don't forget that there are still a few remaining Earlybird Tickets on sale here for £15 (instead of £20).

  • Let Love Show The Way 7/4/16

"Yet another from 'LLSTW' - the storming 'I'd Rather Die In Vain' - gave us a full house on the genre bingo card - Jimi's Blue Plaque just up the road in W1 was no doubt reverberating to this nod to his legend. It was then back to the Blues and to their 'Love Vol. 1' EP and 'What's On Your Mind' - a track that not only JD has performed before using Duanne Allman's Les Paul but also many would think is a Blues standard and a cover. Praise indeed. The 'Big Country' style opening riff of 'Long May You Sail' lead into another SIMO epic from 'LLSTW' and a bonus ball with Progressive rock overtones - the togetherness of this three-piece never being more apparent now than during their entire set." Yes all roads lead to SIMO (our Vid Of The Day) at The Barfly in Chalk Farm, London, tonight, following their amazing Showcase gig at the St. Moritz Club last November.
