The day following Eurovision 2016 last Saturday, Route 66 thought they’d sort you out with some of the best Rock & Blues music from across Europe including Europe who we are seeing at Ramblin' Man in July. Today's Track Of The Day also takes a look at the week’s music news, celebrates some important Rock and Blues birthdays and host Rory Auskerry spins a couple of ‘first plays’ with new tracks from The Rides and Dan Patlansky (pictured).

The 10th BCMA Awards (British Country Music Awards) were held at the Heston Venue nr. Heathrow, London last weekend. Jess & The Bandits - who the WRC photographed at both last year's Ramblin' Man and at The Borderline - won both the Entertainer of the Year and Group of the Year. 2016 marked the band’s debut headline tour, another summer of festival appearances and the release of a deluxe edition of their debut album, which once again entered the Official Country Charts Top 20.

The multi-Platinum and Grammy-nominated Goo Goo Dolls start their UK tour in Norwich tonight which culminates at London’s Eventim Apollo next Friday. The band will also release a new single ‘Over and Over’ on Friday 28th October taken from the band’s current album ‘Boxes’, which has proven to be a highlight of the band’s recent North American live shows. ‘Boxes’ is a vibrant, sonically forward-looking album that manages to retain what their legions of fans love about the Goo Goo Dolls - indelible melodies, intimate, heartfelt lyrics, and the anthemic, uplifting vibe of their songs - while pushing new boundaries in terms of sound and production.

Today at London's Roundhouse, Louder Than War with the Music Venue Trust present Venues Day 2016 - a series of panels which will aim to get to the bottom of touring costs and the relationship between venues promoters, agents and artists working in the grassroots music venues sector. In other European countries the Grassroots Music Venue circuit is supported by grant funding to ensure that emerging artists have a place to play and develop their craft. Meanwhile in the UK, venues have fallen into decline and, in many cases, closed shop. Of the 25 venues that launched Oasis on their world dominating career, only 12 remain. The UK has seen more than 35% of its grassroots music venues close in the last decade.

On this week's Route 66 Track Of The Day host Rory Auskerry is celebrating the winners at this years British Blues Awards as Rory runs through all the categories playing a track from each of the winners. Also on the show is new music from David Grissom, Led Zeppelin, Aaron Keylock and ZZ Top (pictured) plus Rory also takes a look at the music news and marks the birthdays in Rock & Blues.

Bob was Jules-less on Saturday night's Rock On The Ridge show - but not only did he announce news that next week's show would include interview's with all the bands that played BluesRockFest, but he also kindly dedicated a track to the WRC! Anyway today's Track Of The Day includes tracks from Alter Bridge, Glenn Hughes, The Brew, RavenEye, Tengger Cavalry, The Mission, The Answer (pictured), Tax The Heat, Scorpion Child, Ryan McGarvey, Southern Culture on the Skids, Tito & Tarantula, Last Bullet, Preacher Stone, Kyng, Suns of Stone, Andrew Watt, Rival Sons, Crobot (dedicated to AJ), House of Lords, E.L.O., Mott the Hoople, Blacktop Mojo, Joe Bonamassa and one of ROTR's favourite bands Vanilla Women!

Larry Miller has a new CD officially released in September simply titled ‘Larry Miller’. The CD contains 12 tracks with a running time of 70 minutes. There are 9 tracks taken from Larry's last 5 studio albums and all the tracks have been remixed and mastered by Neil Sadler at No Machine Studios. Larry chose these tracks as being some of his favourites. There are also 3 excellent, previously unreleased tracks. As far as Larry's recovery is concerned, he started playing guitar again a few months ago and is improving every week but it is taking a lot longer than expected to relearn his guitar skills. Consequently Larry is looking at a return sometime in 2017 but as yet it is difficult to predict when.

It wasn't just the strength in depth of the Blues played at the Burlesque and Blues Revue on Thursday night at Camden's Proud - it was the subtle additional twist of Burlesque that made it such a unique evening! So fair play to Darren at The British Blues Exhibition for the imaginative mix which is partly captured in today's photo gallery here featuring Andy Twyman, Peter Donegan, Auld's Man Baccie, Great West Groove and of course those lovely Burlesque girls!

And talking of Ramblin' Man - Bob & Jules threw a few RM bands into the mix on their show on Saturday night including Tax The Heat, The Answer, Black Stone Cherry and Dirty Thrills (pictured).
