- Message From America! 7/10/15
The bad news is that the Youtube/Soundcloud gremlins continue in Canada but talking of North America the WRC were delighted to hear from fully paid-up member Rick Menitti (pictured) yesterday! Rick took in the Foo Fighters in Atlanta and passed on this review here. Rick added "Show was phenomenal, Jan (pictured alongside Rick) even gave it a good review despite standing for over 4 hours in the drizzle! Be sure to see them if they are at a city near you!"
- Out Of This World! 14/10/15
Today's Video Of The Day is a recently released video from our friend Keith - one half of of the Strawkites! This is the first joint project between 'Half a Kite' and American singer songwriter Georgia Paris and it's about a new planet recently discovered by the Kepler Telescope that seems very similar to the earth! Apparently they will be working on many more tracks together in the future and 'Kepler 186f' is currently available to download for free here.

- Mr. Blue Sky 27/4/16
"It was one of those bright spring days when it seemed every other radio station was playing 'Mr. Blue Sky'. It certainly didn’t feel like 30 years since ELO last concert toured. But the fans at the O2 Arena on the first of a four night stay knew exactly how long it’d been. Some may even have been counting the years. And the anticipation of whether Jeff Lynne could still cut it, was palpable. In the lengthy queues and security checks, conversation naturally turned to how exactly the 68-year-old might manage the energy of those hits. The main man shuffled on around 9pm. He looked cheery, hairy and healthy – not unlike Chas from Chas & Dave, in fact." Read the first of our Jeff Lynne ELO O2 Arena London review's here and watch out for further pics this week.
- New Moon Rising! 23/4/16
The suave Hillbilly Moon Explosion release their new album ‘With Monsters and Gods’ on Friday 13th May. THME’s last single 'My Love For Evermore' (today's Track Of The Day) has become a phenomena with dozens of fans comparing tattoos on the band’s Facebook page with the songs inspiring at least 30 cover-versions and nearly seven million of views on Youtube! A half-English 4-piece hidden away in the unlikely habitat of Switzerland, they’ve honed their craft without distraction for many years. Searching for the right sound, they’ve previously recorded in San Diego, Camden and Tooting, but for this album they went back to the local Swiss studio where they made their early Rockabilly albums, allowing more time to get it spot on!
- Cox On The Radio! 21/4/16
Paul Cox visited Richard Dunning's Blues On The Radio studio ahead of his showcase performance at The Tuesday Night Music Club this week. Today's Track Of The Day sees the guys discuss Paul's 'Best of...' album, play some his favourite tracks and chat about what the present and future holds for the man that Paul Jones has said has one of the best voices in Europe. Of course Rich also found time for the IBBA picks of the month for April, some great new releases and a few classics including Salvation Jayne, The Troy Redfern Band (pictured) and Kaz Hawkins!
- Campaign To Support And Protect Music Venues! 9/12/15
This week the House of Commons Public Bill Committee will consider an amendment to the Housing and Planning Bill 2015-16 proposed by Michael Dugher MP. That amendment is a measure which would mean that developers would be responsible for protecting music venues against future complaints when they build residences nearby. Essentially, it is Agent of Change. It's just one year ago that the Music Venue Trust launched Frank Turner's campaign to adopt the Agent of Change principle into UK law. Today, we could actually change the law so that it starts to happen - but we need to keep the pressure on! To help support live venues across the UK go to this link here. Thank you.

- Trespass Are Back! 3 April 2015
If you remember the new wave of British Heavy Metal music in the late 70's and early 80's - then you will remember 'Trespass'! In fact one of their stand-out tracks 'One Of These Days' (our 'Video Of The Day') was featured on the NWOBHM 25th Anniversary Collection alongside Samson, Diamond Head and Saxon! Frequent visitors to the Red Lion, Gravesend - the good news is that Trespass are back - playing again - with a brilliant new album to boot available here.
- Joe Bonamassa - The Hook 21 March 2015
Things improved after that false start when we chatted to some Cornish JB fans in the bar before we ventured up to our seats in the circle. Not only were we in the Gods but we were greeted by rows of empty seats which didn’t exactly help the atmosphere despite Joe’s manufactured stage entrance. All this was forgotten as he launched straight into one of the stand-out tracks from Different Shades Of Blue - ‘Oh Beautiful’ – traditional Bonamassa as was the classic follow-up ‘Never Give All Your Heart’ from the same album. It was all change then as Joe jumped into Howlin’ Wolf’s Hidden Charms and here lies the rub. Reinventing yourself is part and parcel of the industry but perhaps this understandably sits very uncomfortably with your longstanding JB fan - particularly the risk of diluting himself with his stand out eight piece band (the writing already being on the wall at last year’s Calling Festival). It was more of the same with the horn section and keys on ‘Living On The Moon’ and ‘Trouble Town’. However, Otis Rush’s ‘Double Trouble’ was pivotal for me on the night - Reese Wynan’s keys the perfect foil for Bonamassa’s amazing guitar solo and I’m starting to see the light. Wow!
