- Introducing ......... Mike Brookfield 19/1/16
As you know the WRC celebrated its first birthday on Saturday - and just to re-emphasise the fact that our members are the lifeblood of our site - we were delighted to receive a 'New Act To Me' message from Marilyn Pascoe re: Mike Brookfield who supported Laurence Jones at The Beaverwood last Thursday. "He looks like a young Bryan Adams and his Blues/Rock music is better. If you haven't caught him yet, might be worth a look." Thanks for the tip-off Marilyn - consequently Mike has been added to our 'Introducing ...' page and is also today's Vid Of The Day!

- The Book Of Souls 28 September 2015
With ‘The Book of Souls’, Iron Maiden has further cemented its iconic status among the rock and metal community. This record is but another grand and fulfilling chapter in a legendary career that is distinguished by deft musicianship, intelligent lyrics and masterful songwriting. Kevin Shirley‘s production is understated yet flawlessly brilliant. Whether ‘The Book of Souls’ is the final chapter in Iron Maiden‘s impressive and historic catalogue of music remains to be seen, but it is certainly among its most memorable offerings since the band’s seminal 80’s works such as ‘Number of the Beast’ and ‘Powerslave’. For the rest of Wrinkly The Silver's excellent Iron Maiden review go here plus see our Vid Of The Day!
- Shooter In Bad Company! 22 September 2015
And we're not talking about support band Southbound (our Vid Of The Day) either! Yes all rivers lead tonight to Shooter's album launch at The Half Moon, Putney by The Thames. If you like Classic Rock as it should be i.e. loud, dirty, fun and raunchy - then this is a no-brainer. From the ashes of 70's rock legends Straightshooter - a bit like the WRC - they are slightly older, slightly greyer, but still 'Recycled Teenagers ... hence the title of the album! The WRC also understand that ex-Bad Company and Samson guitarist Dave 'Bucket' Colwell will also be at the gig! Tickets are £10 on the door and you also get a FREE copy of the album on entry. See you there!

- The Song Remains The Same - Part 2 29 July 2015
To put my WRC cards well and truly on the table - the Zeppelin part of Purple Zeppelin was the bit I was looking forward to the most - but hey after the Purple set, PZ had set the bar extremely high. A change of garb set the scene with Alex’s headscarf now the mandatory Bonham bowler hat and Mark in the trademark Page combination of Rose Jacket/Dragon Pants plus double-neck guitar. But as well being keen followers of fashion the guys also followed their Purple set with a mean opening rendition of ‘Celebration Day’ of off LZ3 - given more prominence in recent years as the film title of their last gig in 2007 just up the road at the O2 Arena. John’s wail and Mark’s repeating staccato riff kept us again in LZ3 territory with ‘Immigrant Song’ whilst regressing back to LZ2, the iconic aggressive opening riff of 'Heartbreaker' was more than complemented by Mike’s bass playing power chords. Most possibly the best side of an LP ever made (showing my age here) - yes the second track of side two of ‘Physical Graffiti’ - ‘Trampled Underfoot’ - followed, and hit the mark despite the absence of JPJ’s keys, as did another PG track ‘The Wanton Song’ although not one of that holy trinity." - WRC Ready To Rock Despite Foos Disappointment! 17 June 2015
With just a week to go now to ZZ Top and Thunder at Wembley Arena, the WRC gigs are coming thick and fast despite The Foo Fighters Wembley cancellation this Saturday. If you're going to ZZ next Wednesday or The Who at Hyde Park on Friday 26th then give us a shout as we might see you for a beer! In the meantime our thanks to Peter Phillips for the pic above which seems to encapsulate both all the gigs we have been to - or one's that are in the pipeline - although the likenesses are a bit harsh we think!
