  • Big River Has The Blues! 13/10/15

Big River is the idea of Gravesend Guitarist Damo Fawsett, after playing a last minute gig with his old cohorts in The Chosen Few, his passion for Blues music resurfaced. Then upon seeing Vintage Trouble on TV, he realised that the Blues is well and truly alive and reaching a whole new generation of fans! No stranger to the WRC, having played at Bluesfest 2014, Damo began his search for like minded people and after a Dartford rehearsal studio session, Big River was born! Joining Fawsett in the band is Adam Bartholomew on vocals, who Damo tells us can out-soul Paul Rodgers and scream like Glenn Hughes in the next breath! Luke Calvert is on Drums, praised by Damo as "technically brilliant and all the while lays down a flawless groove" plus Ant Wellman on bass who was previously with the Reagan Browne Band and currently tours all over the UK and Europe with The Lambrettas - "a style of Jaco Pastorius and Andy Fraser - he was the perfect choice to lay down the bottom end" adds Damo. Big River has a seriously powerful sound all of their own and cover Blues tracks from all eras from Hendrix and Free through to modern bands like Rival Sons and Vintage Trouble - with the image to match. Big River will be one to watch and they hit the road from December 2015.

  • Troy Casts His Spell - Live! 3 September 2015

"On a high he could have left the stage then but, no - he’d saved the best to last. Now was the time to really unleash and demonstrate why his guitar playing has been so highly praised (as if he hadn’t already!). Voodoo Chile is always a bit of a crowd pleaser but it perfectly fits Troys style and he attacks it with diving and soaring runs as that slide shoots up and down the fretboard. Many have tried, but not many can really make this song their own - Troy Redfern does just that, and with style." That was Richard Dunning's take on the Troy Redfern Band at this year's BluesRockfest and that particular live track is today's Track Of The Day! Watch out for more live tracks to be released from all the bands on that memorable day in July plus how you can buy the DVD/CD!

  • Hats Off To You Guys! 1 June 2015

There’s no doubt that the Brooklyn Bowl is impressive but the hybrid of it being both a gig venue and a bowling alley (although the bowling stopped when the band came on) resulted in a hundred and fifty or so punters being lost in the periphery of chairs and tables – with no one being up front and personal with the band. Despite this – if you were looking for Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits performed with professionalism and passion then HOTLZ ticked all the right boxes. The guys had played the Bowl before a few months back and apparently the increase in numbers on the night reflected how well they went down last time. Read the rest of AJ's Hats Off To Led Zeppelin review here, go to the picture gallery here plus also see our 'Video Of The Day!'

  • High Voltage Lives On! 12 Apr 2015

With its 're-incarnation' Ramblin' Man on the horizon in July - was it really nearly four years ago since High Voltage and today's 'Video Of The Day'? Yes Blues titan Joe Bonamassa joined classic rock legends Jethro Tull on the Prog stage for Locomotive Breath after Joe's set with Black Country Communion - remember them? As it happens, Joe’s first tour as a solo opening act, in support of his debut album, was for none other than – Jethro Tull! Unfortunately there's no Joe but there is Ian Anderson at Ramblin' Man - and it's still not too late take advantage of our offer to save WRC members the cost of their booking fee e.g. £5.50 on a £60 ticket. Go here for ticket information then simply contact us below with your ticket requirements and we will get back to you. And it's also not too late to become a WRC member - simply fill out a form here and we'll subsequently send you a WRC members card.

To be honest. tonight is the very first time that the WRC have seen Iron Maiden live as they headline Download's 'Lemmy Stage'. Also on the WRC itinerary today are The Franklys (pictured), The Temperance Movement, Halestorm, Disturbed and Saxon.
