And talking of supporting small music venues, tonight the Tuesday Night Music club host Storm Warning - lauded by the press as one of the best and classiest, contemporary Blues bands in the UK. They play top quality original Blues songs and make Blues covers their own with ex-Mick Ralphs Band Son Maxwell on vocals, guitarist Bob Moore, Ian Salisbury on keys, Derek White on bass (Larry Miller band) plus ex-Mick Clarke drummer Russ Chaney. More bands have been added to an already very impressive Ramblin' Man line-up of Whitesnake (pictured at Wembley in December 2015), Europe, Airbourne, Thin Lizzy and Black Stone Cherry. New names Joining the fun at this year's event over the weekend of the 23rd and 24th July - held again at Mote Park, Maidstone - include Ginger Baker, Inglorious (our Vid Of The Day) and The Zombies (Track of The Day)!

The collaborative extravaganza that is Supersonic Blues Machine will release their debut album ‘West of Flushing, South of Frisco’ on 26th February on the Provogue/Mascot Label Group. At the heart of it is bassist/producer Fabrizio Grossi, guitarist/singer Lance Lopez and drummer Kenny Aronoff as well as a host of guests of the highest calibrer; ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons, Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule/Allman Bros Band), Chris Duarte, Eric Gales, Walter Trout and Robben Ford. As well as being the latest band on our 'Introducing ...' page, SBM are also our Track Of The Day!

Red Butler are the third band to be added to the 2016 BluesRockFest bill taking place at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend, on Saturday 24th September. Alongside headliners The Stevie Nimmo Trio and 2015 WRC Award winners The Mentulls - Red Butler (Vid Of The Day) have Just won the second UK Blues Challenge and will represent the UK at the 2016 European Blues Challenge in Italy! "The blues? Yo' mean Sat'day night music played by no-good folks who don' wan' work in the fields? Preachers, they calls it the devil's music." Those words are spoken by a character in Fat Man Blues, a new novel by Richard Wall, and are typical of Richard's attempt to get under the skin of the Blues. He uses a lot of colloquial language like this in doing so, and pretty successfully. Since a review copy came in, which is also being curated into what is becoming the British Blues Exhibition, the book has been around, getting itself seen on the British Blues scene. Celebrating the 'Greatest Hits Live' release from ZZ Top, today's Route 66 Track Of The Day plays two tracks from it. The raw energy of 'Surrender' raised the pace again, setting the scene for the accelerating rhythm and passionate vocals of 'Close To Nowhere'. This song’s repetitive guitar and drum riff were cleverly used to build up to the explosive chorus, a fitting finale for Cortes’s set: as it finished the roaring applause was inevitable."
