Just days after we saw his old mucker Corky Laing performing at the 100 Club, Leslie West of Mountain releases his new album today ‘Soundcheck’ via the Provogue/Mascot Label Group. For this new release, Leslie lays down some of his most inspired musical magic to date with the assistance of true Rock royalty: the renown British guitarists Peter Frampton and Brian May, ex-Jeff Beck keyboard virtuoso Max Middleton, vocalist extraordinaire Bonnie Bramlett and the late great Cream bassist and longtime friend of Leslie’s, Jack Bruce!

Well we're indebted to Wrinkly The Silver (who by the way took in JB with surprisel guest Bernie Marsden at Brighton last night) for pointing out that this weekend marks the 40th Anniversary of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. With over 6.5 million copies sold worldwide to date, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is one of the world’s most well known songs and so deservedly is our Track of The Day. And as for Joe - well the guitar legend fulfils a promise that he made 10 years ago and performs a special concert tonight at Mr. Kyps in Poole, Dorset - the same venue where he played his first ever UK concert back in 2005! The Short and Curlies Band are a four piece mainly covers band playing pubs, clubs and functions around South London and North Kent. Originally a duo - Colin on guitar/vocals (Short) and Paul on guitar/harmonica (Curly) - joined up last year with former members of '3AM' - Nathan (bass/vocals) and Mike (drums) to create both a bigger sound and a wider repertoire of songs - resulting in an upbeat style and a wide variety of material from 50's rock and roll right up to current hits plus original material. Not just a tribute band, nor just a covers band - but a group of dedicated musicians offering their own treatment of a wide range of music plus the songwriting of John and Colin!

King King (Track Of The Day) yesterday released through Manhaton Records 'King King Live' - a triple disc live concert deluxe edition including 2 CD's of their sold-out hometown concert at the O2 ABC in Glasgow last May and 1 DVD including footage of the band performing to a sold-out crowd at the Holmfirth Picturedrome in April. King King start their UK tour on Wednesday 9th November with their special guests Broken Witt Rebels.

The Marshman had the amazing Black Market III live in the Channel Radio studio on Blues On The Marsh last night. Anyway, today's Track Of The Day also includes tracks from The Rev. Marc Falconberry, Kenny Neal, Janice Harrington and The Ken Landings Band, Deb Ryder, Big Head Blues Club, Red Butler, Mighty Sam McClain, Liz Mandeville, Felicia Collins, Blackberry Smoke and a Blues track from Belarus!!!!!

Norwegian Progressive Metallers Circus Maximus began the second leg of their 'Havoc' tour at London's Underworld on Saturday 27th August. With influences of bands such as Dream Theater and Symphony X, in some eyes 'Havoc' sees a swing more towards Metal than Prog.
