It says much for the character, talent and versatility of a band when they can change their plans for a show at almost a moment’s notice. That was exactly what Chantel McGregor did at the Boom Boom last Friday to overcome the absence of the guest act and ensure an expectant crowd got class and value for money. The solution to the problem, Chantel taking to the stage to play an opening solo acoustic set of five songs that came as a real surprise and a veritable treat writes Nigel Foster. British HM legends Demon release their brand new 13th Studio Album 'Cemetery Junction' on Friday 28th October. Demon is an English Heavy Rock group, formed in 1979 by vocalist Dave Hill and guitarist Mal Spooner, both hailing from Leek, Staffordshire. They are considered an important band in the new wave of British Heavy Metal movement. Hill reunited the band with new members in 2001 and released a new album called 'Spaced Out Monkey'. The band has since gone onto release a further two albums, 'Better the Devil You Know' (2005) and their latest release 'Unbroken', which was released in 2012. Both of the bands post reunion releases have received positive reviews from the press leading the band to go on and play many festivals across Europe Including the Bang Your Head festival and Sweden Rock.

It was good to hear from our mate Simon Burrett (pictured) of The Blue Bishops who are playing The Eel Pie Club, The Cabbage Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ tonight and will feature Jim and Steve Rodford of the multi chart-topping band The Zombies! Consistently excellent reviews of their particular brand of hard-edged, gritty Blues-Rock have followed them on tours and club appearances across the UK and Europe. Simon and Geoff Grange (Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings) have been at the core of the band for 20 years with line-ups and guests that have included Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash, Chris Hook from Voyager, Martin Barre from Jethro Tull, Jon Noyce from Gary Moore's band, Rabbit from Free and Rod Argent. Doors open at 8.30pm and the music starts at 9pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted £9 admission.

With just 10 days to go now in our countdown to BluesRockFest at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend, on Saturday 24th September - we bring you news that one of the WRC organisers Steve Borkowski is live on the Rock n Blues Show here tonight between 7 and 9pm on Ridge Radio where you can hear him chat to host Mark Hughes about the line up and play some music from the artists. Mark has also just recently become a WRC member here for FREE - where you not only get all the associated privileges of being a member - but you can also still buy your BluesRockFest ticket for £15 instead of £20!

We caught The Answer recently at Ramblin' Man Fair as they debuted part of their eagerly anticipated new album 'Solas' due to be released via Napalm Records on Friday 28th October. The first track to be taken from the new album is the melancholic ‘Beautiful World’, which is today's Vid Of The Day and is also now available as a download with vinyl and CD pre-orders of the album via Pledge Music. ‘Beautiful World’ will also be available as an instant grat single with pre-orders of the album via digital stores, which will go live on Friday 16th September. Co-written with former Massive Attack producer/composer Neil Davidge, ‘Beautiful World’ is bathed in a dark, cinematic eeriness, juxtaposing with its optimistic title, before evolving into an explosive, retro Rock stomper!

American Blues Rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa joined a host of named legends as he received his brick in The Cavern ‘Wall of Fame’ yesterday ahead of his intimate Cavern gig later in the evening - which we were lucky enough to attend! Bonamassa’s free show at Liverpool’s famous cellar club was a thank you to his British fans for the support they have shown him through his career. Joe launched his series of British Blues Explosion concert's, which pay homage to some of his musical inspirations including Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, the latter two who already also feature in the Cavern’s ‘Wall of Fame’!
