- Happy 72nd Birthday Jimmy (For Yesterday) 10/1/16
Our thanks to Route 66 for their tweet yesterday: "Happy 72nd Birthday to #JimmyPage. He's been getting a whole lotta love today. #guitarhero" And even if we forgot Jimmy's birthday yesterday - don't forget that every Sunday evening at 6pm, host Rory Auskerry presents two hours of the very best in Rock & Blues music here on Pure 107.8 FM. And if you can't tune in tonight (why not?) then watch out for our Track Of The Day podcast later on this week.
- Talking Mr. Kyps! 24/12/15
It was definitely the attraction of AJ's '2015 WRC On Tour' t-shirt and not AJ himself that got us talking to Joe Bonamassa fan Lucy at the Wembley Arena Whitesnake gig last Friday. In fact Lucy made us all very envious as she was lucky enough to see JB fulfil a promise that he made 10 years ago when he performed at a special concert in Poole, Dorset, at the beginning of November - the same venue where he played his first ever UK concert back in 2005! Lucy told us "The show at Mr. Kyps was epic and I know how blessed I was to win tickets ..... something that will stay with me always." Lucy also kindly sent us a couple of brilliant pics which we have reproduced on the website today. Also watch out for our '2016 WRC On Tour' t-shirt coming out shortly - although we still have a couple of 2015 t-shirts still available here!

- Name Of The Game! 13/12/15
It's not very often we mention ABBA on our website - but today we give a deserved mention to the ABBA girls who performed at the Celebrations Theatrical Group Christmas party for adults with learning disabilities yesterday lunchtime. The gig itself was actually funded by the WRC following the money we raised at Wrinklystock IV for our nominated charities. We also received this very kind thank you from Julian Thornington of Celebrations: "Just to say thank you so much, on behalf of Celebrations for booking and paying for the ABBA Girls. They were just what we wanted and they were all lovely people. It was the best party I think we have had and a fitting end to a good year for the Club. I do hope all of you have a great Christmas."

- Free Bernie Marsden Gig Today! 7/11/15
Yes your eyes aren't deceiving you! Bernie Marsden will be playing a FREE show at the Brooklyn Bowl today at 4.30pm - part of the Prudential Bluesfest! At a rough guesstimate Bernie Marsden’s name appears on a hundred albums – maybe more. In addition to a long-running solo career the Buckinghamshire-born guitarist has been a recording musician since the early 1970's via membership of such groups as Whitesnake, UFO, Wild Turkey, Babe Ruth, Paice Ashton & Lord, Cozy Powell’s Hammer, Alaska, M3 and many more. Though there’s a tendency to pigeonhole him as a blues-rock guitarist, each of Marsden’s acts had its own individual flavour. Consequently ‘Trouble’ - featuring David Coverdale no less - is our Track Of The Day!
- Borderline Bandit Territory! 30/10/15
Good friend of the WRC and Rockrpix photographer John Bull was out yet again with his camera on Wednesday night taking in Texan/English country quintet Jess and the Bandits at the Borderline. Having soared up the UK Official Country Charts with their debut album 'Here We Go Again', John's verdict on a decently attended gig was "Very good - Jess was great!" He also praised young support Liv Austen - "Really liked her too - check her out!" Plus you can also check out John's brilliant pics in our photo gallery here.
- Joanne Shaw Taylor Photo Gallery 29/10/15
As expected Joanne Shaw Taylor was on top form at a packed Jazz Cafe in London on Tuesday night. With a review of the gig on its way - take a look at our photo gallery here which also includes pics of excellent support band Federal Charm (pictured and our Track Of The Day) who completed a memorable evening!
- British Blues Awards Bash Today! 17/10/15
Just a reminder about the 2015 British Blues Awards Event that is taking place at The Navigation Inn, Nottingham from 3pm today. There will also be The Navigation Blues Corporation playing plus an open mic for anyone who wants to play! So if you have a trophy or certificate to collect, if you are a Blues fan looking for an afternoon/night out with a difference and a supporter of the British Blues Awards then you are most welcome to attend!
- Doing The Business! 8/11/15
We were delighted to hear from our old mucker Alan - the bass guitarist from 'Blues Business' who memorably opened for the WRC at Bluesfest 2013! Anyway the guys released a new album in July - 'Who's been talkin' and it has been reviewed in this month's Blues in Britain magazine (pictured) - with another review due in next month's Blues Matters!

Not only did AJ find out that the Statue Of Liberty rocked on Friday - but he already knew a long time ago that one Stockport radio station with an American connection also rocks as well. Yes every Sunday evening at 6pm, Rory Auskerry presents Route 66 - two hours of the very best in rock & blues music here on Pure 107.8 FM.
