For a professional touring musician, it sounds like a recipe for disaster. You and your bandmates pile into a bus for a nationwide tour, but almost everywhere you go, nobody pays a dime to get into your shows. You have no corporate sponsor. No record label picking up the tab. Most nights, you don't sell a single ticket. Instead of theatres or clubs, The Maine, a rock band from Arizona and our Vid Of The Day will play non-traditional venues such as shopping malls and parking lots. And to save money, they'll sleep on their tour bus! But that's exactly what the guys have signed up for by launching a free, 26-city tour that stops off at the House of Blues in Orlando this Saturday and our very own Wrinkly (Colin) will be there! And not content with getting a freebie he intends pestering the guys for an interview to see how the tour is going – who knows this could be the way forward for bands in the UK as well? Our 'Video Of The Day' is of an emerging Rock/Blues guitarist/singer and songwriter from the Midlands in the UK. From the age of 16, Ali Clinton has been playing and touring with guitar legend and ex-Scorpion Uli Jon Roth, but is currently trying to move forward with his own career - hence our latest 'Introducing .....' feature. Ali is currently looking at different festivals and venues to try and build his profile and the vid is a live studio performance of an original track off of his new self-titled debut EP.

Beating both Blackfield and The Pineapple Thief to our 2014 Best Prog Performance award were American supergroup Flying Colors - thanks to their performance at The Islington Assembly Halls in October. With just 4 more awards to be announced - keep watching this space!

Despite being in the exalted company of both Joe Bonamassa and Richie Sambora - Robin Bibi has deservedly won the WRC's 'Best Guitar Solo' award for 2014! And today's 'Video Of The Day' is testament to why Robin has won this accolade thanks to this performance at our WRC Bluesfest in July 2014! Well done Robin!

Was it really as long ago as April 2013 when we featured the 70's/80's Classic Rock vibe of Thorntree on that month's Wrinklycast? Anyway the WRC were delighted to hear recently from band member Martin Cooper that the guys are just finishing recording a new EP and are also looking to get out gigging again! If the new EP is as good as Thorntree’s debut album ‘Bullet Proof’ then we can't wait! So watch this space for some links to some of the new songs plus some promo stuff as well - in the meantime we have made that April 2013 Wrinklycast our Track Of The Day which also featured Joe Bonamassa, Walkway, Eureka Machines, The Replicants and Angelo Tristan!

As promised today's Track Of The Day is Tuesday night's Blues On The Radio podcast featuring WRC Award winner Robin Bibi ahead of his gig at the TNMC. And talking of the Tuesday Night Music Club - it's now just 3 days and counting till their first anniversary party celebrations at Hooley Village Club, St. Margaret's Road, Hooley Village, Coulsdon, Surrey, CR5 3RB between midday and midnight on Saturday! Chris Jagger’s Atcha! (our Vid Of The Day) will be returning to the Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford DA1 2JZ, on Saturday 26th September at 8pm and the WRC have a pair of tickets to give away! This time Chris’ five piece band will include drummer Malcolm Mortimore (Gentle Giant, Ian Dury), our mate and multi-instrumentalist Charlie Hart (Slim Chance, Eric Clapton) plus also Jagger's ‘trio’ members Elliet Mackrell on the fiddle, bassist Dave Hatfield and of course Chris himself on guitar and vocals. Chris has been touring across Europe this past year with his trio and now feels it’s time to add them to the Atcha! lineup now that Malcolm’s son Jim has moved on to pastures new.
