  • Damian Wilson Leaves Threshold 8/4/17

Threshold (Vid Of The Day) have parted ways with vocalist Damian Wilson. Wilson enjoyed three stints with Threshold, performing on the band's most recent records 'For The Journey' and 'March Of Progress' as well as their early releases 'Wounded Land' and 'Extinct Instinct' in the 1990's. Threshold's new frontman will be Glynn Morgan, the band's former vocalist from 1994 to 1996. Morgan appeared on Threshold's 1994 album 'Psychedelicatessen' and returned to work with the band in 2008 to record tracks for the singles box set 'Paradox'. Threshold are currently at Thin Ice Studios recording their 11th album 'Legends Of The Shires' due for release in the autumn. The band's European tour kicks off in November with support from Damnation Angels and Day Six.

  • Roadstars Arrive In London Tonight 8/4/17

"'Healing Hand' - about friendship, tolerance and forgiveness - (these guys are obviously deep thinkers) - builds nicely into a riff driven finale and the album's high standard is maintained and perhaps even bettered with 'The Mountain'. More boundary-stretching from Bad Touch in this beautifully crafted track which is not only heavy in its genre but also its message about the sustainability of our planet and our collective responsibility with pollution. All in all a delightful album that takes many positive twists and turns that takes Bad Touch well outside the constraints of their supposed genre." That was part of AJ's take on Bad Touch's recent CD 'Truth Be Told' and the band are at London's Borderline tonight with Broken Witt Rebels as part of Planet Rock's Roadstars tour.

  • The King's Parade 8/4/17

Today's Track Of The Day is London quartet The King’s Parade and their new single ‘Haze’. The band bridge between classic Blues and carefully crafted Alt-Pop and are similar to the likes of Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys and Leon Bridges. ‘Haze’ is the first taste of new music following the band’s 2015 debut EP 'Vagabond', which saw The King’s Parade build a fervent fanbase. The band have previously sold out headline shows at London’s Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, Oslo and held a residency at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s. They’ve also become a strong live draw in Germany, selling out headline shows across the country.

  • Dark, Hot & Sweaty 7/4/17

"Main Event" of the night is the amazingly talented, and very young Aaron Keylock. Still only a teenager, the slightly built unassuming looking lad has exploded onto the scene and he exploded onto the stage to the rather unusual sound of jungle drums. With his long hair, playing style and Les Paul shaped guitar, he bares more than a passing resemblance to one James Page Esq. More of those guitars shortly. Having played with Blackberry Smoke, The Cadillac Three, Tracer, The Graveltones and The Answer and supported the likes of Joanne Shaw Taylor, Aaron has some pedigree to bring to the Camden Massif. Tonight is about promoting and playing his new album 'Cut Against The Grain', written by himself and produced by Fabrizio Grossi." You can read the whole of Mother's Aaron Keylock review from Tuesday night's gig at Camden's Black Heart here.

  • Book Of Souls - Final Leg 6/4/17

Iron Maiden's recent and continued efforts to safeguard their fans against touting and counterfeiting ahead of 2017’s The Book Of Souls UK arena tour has been hailed a triumph by fans, promoters and legitimate ticketing sites. By implementing an extensive “Paperless Ticketing” policy and ensuring all other available tickets would carry the name of the purchaser and would also require the purchaser’s credit card and ID on entry, amongst other measures, the number of tickets available at inflated prices on the secondary platforms plummeted by over 95% compared with the band’s last UK arena tour in 2011. 'The Book Of Souls Tour' resumes with a series of arena shows opening in Sportpalais, Antwerp, Belgium on Saturday 22nd April and continuing into Germany, UK and Ireland, finishing with two sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena over the weekend of 27th & 28th May. The band then flies to the U.S.A for an extensive series of arena and amphitheatre shows including dates in Canada, ending with two nights in Brooklyn, New York on 21st & 22nd July.

  • Vive La France 5/4/17

Just twelve days after their storming London Borderline show, Sari Schorr & The Engine Room's European tour stopped off at L'Arcadium in Annnecy, France last Saturday night - and Swiss WRC member Marlène Rivet (who was also at the London show) was there again as her great photo of Sari testifies. Marlène also got to chat with the band after the show and tonight the guys return to the UK with a gig at Southampton's Talking Heads!

  • Rise Up 5/4/17

"The title track 'Rise Up' with its opening line of "Wake Up And Open Your Eyes" sets out the message for this song very early, which is go for your dreams and don't get pulled down. The longest song here finds the time for a psychedelic middle section complete with female backing vocal harmonies to accompany it's consistent soulful groove. My personal favourite 'Waiting On You' is next, a very smooth understated track which builds nicely from a great opening guitar and soft vocals into an excellent song which would be at home on any late night radio station or maybe a future (sadly not) Amy Winehouse album. An optimistic song, tinged with sadness. A terrific song." You can read the whole of Phil C's review of The Rainbreakers new EP 'Rise Up' that's due to be released this Friday here. Also check out today's Vid Of The Day plus don't forget that the guys are supporting Danny Bryant at Bilston's Robin 2 tonight!
