"Nimmo holds the stage – bright red tartan kilt and suede workboots sharply contrasting his black Rock t-shirt – with his beaming childlike smile warming the hearts, and making him look like a big kid in a sweet shop. His silver Strat is put through its paces with a dexterity that is intricate but not overly flashy. It's Rock Blues played the way it should be. With thanks to the audiences patience - the gig was postponed last year due to his voice issues – the band follow with 'Waking Up' from the 'King King Live' album. Another rocky Blues track, it shows that the voice is back where it should be." Bernie Marsden (picture courtesy of Eric Duvet) is playing at Skeggy's Great British Rock & Blues Festival tonight, and on Thursday we were blessed to be in the presence of the great man at the iconic 100 Club during London Blues Week. With ex-Whitesnake mucker Neil Murray on bass, top drummer Mickey Barker plus a guest appearance by Danny Bryant - it was a memorable journey covering all of Marsden's legendary music from Whitesnake's 'Here I Go Again' to 'Shine's 'Latino' to Bobby Bland's 'Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City'. A special mention also for excellent support band Flawless Carbon (Track Of The Day) - so check out our photo gallery from the gig here.

Fresh from their appearance at Skeggy's Great British Rock & Blues Festival last night, Atomic Rooster are playing London's Under The Bridge tonight, supported by Creedence Clearwater Revived. Atomic Rooster are on stage at 9.15pm and were formed from the ashes of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown in 1969. Their debut gig was at the Lyceum in London (supported by Deep Purple) and their first self-titled album was released in February 1970. It was after the release of 'Death Walks Behind You' that they had their first taste of UK chart success with 'Tomorrow Night' and 'Devil’s Answer' (today's Video Of The Day). The band split in 1975 and briefly reformed in the early 1980’s. Creedence Clearwater Revived, who are on at 8.15pm, feature the legendary Johnny Guitar Williamson who has worked alongside Steve Cropper, Spencer Davis, Mick Green, Jerry Donahue, Zoot Money, Chris Farlowe and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

"Anyway, Martin's newly monogrammed Sari Schorr drum kit shone out like a beacon as the band made their way on to the stage - unbelievably the word being that the guys had only physically all got together for the first time yesterday! They promised new songs from their all-important sophomore album and they duly delivered with their superb opener 'Revolution' - Ash easing himself in with a cool guitar solo and Schorr's awesome vocals ticking all the right boxes following a conversation I had with some Sari virgins in the bar earlier. It was then three in a row from 'AFON' - Schorr's vocal on the beautifully crafted 'Damn The Reason', featuring Fridzema's keyboards and another Wilson guitar solo - was followed by chuckles from the audience at Sari's throwaway line that the band "had only met yesterday" (which was in fact of course true) before the opening groovy rhythm guitar of Wilson on 'Cat And Mouse' which saw both Ash and Bob excelling again - and finally with Wilson's rockin' solo and Fridzema's keys on 'Demolition Man', again forcefully sung and written by Schorr." In the early 70's Bernie Marsden was the original guitarist for UFO before becoming a member of Paice, Ashton & Lord in 1977 with members of Deep Purple. After PAL split up, Bernie joined David Coverdale in the newly formed Whitesnake, helping to establish the band as one of the most successful live Rock bands in Europe and Japan. Bernie Marsden co-wrote many of the band's hits including 'Fool For Your Loving', 'Here I Go Again' and 'Lovehunter" before leaving Whitesnake to form Alaska. Bernie Marsden was also a member of Cozy Powell's Hammer, Babe Ruth & Wild Turkey. Over the years, Bernie has worked with Joe Bonamassa, Jack Bruce, Walter Trout, Ian Gillan and many more. Sterling Ball, John Ferraro and Jim Cox will be releasing 'The Mutual Admiration Society' tomorrow via Mascot Label Group. The seeds of The Mutual Admiration Society were planted a long time ago, back in 1972 to be precise. A young Sterling, was introduced to the sound of Albert Lee by his father, Ernie. It was during his time in Country Rock band Head, Hands & Feet, who were opening for Jethro Tull at a local show that Sterling went to see them two nights in a row and then for a third successive night at Hollywood’s Whiskey A Go Go. He was hooked, and in Junior High School Ball and Ferraro started playing music together. After High School, Ferraro went on to College at Long Beach State where he met Cox. The record also features an array of incredible guests; Steve Lukather (Toto), Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, Kansas), John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Albert Lee and Jay Graydon. Following on from their triumphant London Half Moon Putney gig on Tuesday night, Sari Schorr's band stopped off at Southampton's Talking Heads, last night and are appearing tonight at Maidenhead's Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Skeggy'sGreat British Rock & Blues Festival tomorrow and St. Helens The Citadel on Saturday. Despite losing her 'Engine Room', Sari was terrific, Ash Wilson was killer on guitar and what can you say about the great Bob Fridzema on keys plus Matt Beable (bass) and Roy Martin (drums)? "This Mississippi Sheiks cover was inevitably followed by two Whitesnake classics ‘Fool For Your Loving’ – what an opening riff – and of course ‘Here I Go Again’. That was it until Marsden got the nod from ‘de management’ to do an encore. One final anecdote as Bernie proudly announced it was his 35th wedding anniversary – and dedicated it to his wife and the geezer who played at his wedding – Gary Moore! That was it – the missing link. Not since the passing of Gary have I seen someone switch from Rock to Blues and vice-versa so easily during a set. I’ll admit ‘Walking By Myself’ brought a tear to my eye and was the icing on the cake – in my opinion the best set of the day." Last night at London's Half Moon in Putney we saw the debut of 2016 WRC Best Blues Rock award winner Sari Schorr's new band playing songs from her forthcoming new album. The new line-up included Ash Wilson (pictured) guitar/vocals, Bob Fridzema (ex-King King) on keyboards, Mat Beable (Stevie Nimmo Band) bass guitar and Roy Martin (Connie Lush Band/Modern English) on drums.
