- Lordi Lordi! 9/5/18
We realise it's not cool to admit it, but this week sees the semi-finals and, ultimately on Saturday, the final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Turn the clock back twelve years and Finnish Hard Rock and Melodic Heavy Metal band, Lordi, won the whole competition as the first and only winner from Finland, with all-time record breaking points at the time in Eurovision history. And this month Lordi's new album slithers onto the scene. Possibly their most controversial album to date, the 9th studio album, 'Sexorcism' (today's Video Of The Day), is a full on and uncensored shot of Lordi brand Hard Rock and Roll.
- Kick Out The Jams 9/5/18
Wayne Kramer, leader of Detroit’s Proto-Punk/Hard Rock band MC5, recently announced 15 concerts and 4 summer festivals for Kick Out the Jams: The 50th Anniversary Tour which includes London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on Monday 12th November. - Bryant & Hill's Academy Tonite! 9/5/18
"Indeed the opening salvo to this power ballad is very much Bonamassa territory - with its perfect fusion of guitar and keys, driven splendidly by Raeburn on drums, which builds into a killer track that climaxes with Bryant's Skynyrd/Freebird like guitar outro. A fitting way to end 'Revelation', although, given Bryant's well publicised demons, this album isn't a 'downbeat' durge. As expected, it's packed with passion and energy - and is an impressive display of Danny's Blues/Rock prowess as both a singer and guitarist. Dedicated to his father, 'Revelation' is something which, no doubt, his Dad Ken would have been proud of." That was part of our take on Danny Bryant's latest album 'Revelation' and Danny, who is on stage at around 9pm, is joined by special guest Steve Hill (8pm) at London's O2 Academy Islington tonight. Also check out today's Route 66 - One For The Road - Track Of The Day - where Rory Auskerry interview's one man power trio Hill!

- Set The World On Fire 8/5/18
Johnny Gioeli and Deen Castronovo first played together on the debut album by Hardline, ‘Double Eclipse’, which was released in 1992. A quarter of a century later, the two were reunited in Italy to commence work on the debut Gioeli-Castronovo album, ‘Set The World On Fire’ (Video Of The Day) which is due to be released by Frontiers on Friday 13th July. Both men have continued on their musical paths since they last saw one another, with Gioeli still leading Hardline while Castronovo spent time with Ozzy Osbourne and had an extended tour of duty with the legendary Journey. He is currently active with The Dead Daisies and Revolution Saints. Gioeli’s vocal talents combined with Castronovo’s superb drumming abilities (he is also a fine vocalist in his own right) has made for a stunning album that is a driving Hard Rock record, as well as being chock full of uplifting melodies and poignant lyrical messages.

- Molly Hatchet UK Tour 6/5/18
"Closing out the night, and the festival, were Southern Rock legends Molly Hatchet. Somewhat curiously they were minus one guitarist, which meant their usual twin guitar boogie sound was restricted to the single guitar of Bobby Ingram. But he played it with style and they closed the night with a string of classics finishing, obviously, with ‘Boogie No More’." That was our take at Hard Rock Hell in November 2016 and Molly Hatchet return to the UK this December namely: 5th The Robin 2, Wolverhampton, 6th Waterfront, Norwich, 7th Dingwalls, London, 8th Plug, Sheffield and 9th The Globe, Cardiff. For tickets go here or call 08444 220 026.
