Despite the weather forecast of snow and its resultant transport disruption, in the end it was allegedly a Black Cab protest that caused gridlock in London on Tuesday night! Consequently this delayed the arrival of two members of support band Big River for their gig at the iconic 100 Club in Oxford Street. Despite this, fair play to the Ryk Mead duo who jammed with the Big River duo present, until the other two members of Big River finally arrived - the band eventually hammering out just two very welcome songs. On a cold and very wet night, the Tuesday Night Blues faithful were rewarded with a great gig with further outstanding sets from both The Ryk Mead Band (pictured) and headliner Aynsley Lister as pictured in our Photo Gallery here.

"In true 80's Rock style, the boys exit the stage only to reappear for not one but two encores. It's a bargain night that keeps on giving. 'We Are The Damned' leads into school boy favourite 'Get The Fuck Out'. The last of my pharynx fucked off. 'Mudkicker' and 'In A Darkened Room' lead to the obvious closer 'Youth Gone Wild'. What a song. Don't know about the youth, but we went wild alright. 30 years in the business? How the hell did they last playing at that level? Practice makes perfect I suppose. Hopefully i will be back in shape with a new set of pipes before their set at Download later this year." As an official host sponsor at the AmericanaFestUK Music Festival & Conference this year, Austin, Texas, based 'Big Indie' are hosting a showcase stage tonight at Night Tales at 14 Bohemia Place, Mare Street, Hackney, London E8 1DU. For those unfamiliar with the UK’s ever-growing Americana scene, Big Indie’s showcase is a perfect introduction. An eclectic and exciting mix of local and international, doors open at 6pm and the evening will be headlined by the incredible Whiskey Shivers at 11.30pm. Also flying in especially from the US are Willi Carlisle (7.30pm) and Dylan Earl (6.30pm), alongside Big Indie’s own Arkansas Dave at 10.30pm, who is performing as part of his UK tour (pictured).

Kilbey, one of Australia’s most loved artists, released his new album 'Sydney Rococo' worldwide at the end of November via Golden Robot Records. 'Sydney Rococo' is a collection of songs Kilbey has written over the last five years. The songs sing of Sydney and her ocean pools, her underground seedy hangouts and treachery. The picture is painted in every song about life in this fast growing and evolving Australian city, famed for her beaches and landmarks. Steve is Australian contemporary music royalty. A prolific artist who has written, performed and produced twenty one solo albums, as well as thirty with Rock legends The Church.

"Aynsley Lister literally played through the pain barrier at The 100 Club on Tuesday night. Suffering from a trapped nerve in his back (which necessitated the cancellation of his Robin 2 gig last Thursday no less) and consequently drugged up to the eyeballs on painkillers, Aynsley put in a killer performance which belied the agony he's been in. Drawing mainly on tracks from his last album 'Home' - for which Lister deservedly won both 'Best Blues Song ' and 'Best Songwriter' at the 2014 British Blues Awards - his undoubted quality as a guitarist and vocalist is not only complemented by the strength of his back-catalogue e.g. 'Equilibrium' but also his band - despite another change in his line-up since we last saw them at last year's Bluesfest. A great set to end a great evening of live Blues - but no pat on the back Aynsley!" Hot on the heels of the success of their last album, ‘The Missing Peace’, L.A. Guns (Track Of The Day) is ready to attack again with a brand new record, ‘The Devil You Know’, out on Friday 29th March. Sonically, the album covers a lot of ground and incorporates influences from Black Sabbath to Led Zeppelin to Kyuss to The Hellacopters, while still managing to sound distinctly like L.A. Guns. The current incarnation of the band has been touring non-stop and the cohesiveness of the unit, not to mention Phil Lewis’ stunning and unique vocals and Tracii Guns’ mind-bending guitar playing, are on full display on the new album. Independent Venue Week begins today - a 7 day celebration of small music venues around the country and a nod to the people that own, run and work in them, week in, week out. These venues give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience and for fans, somewhere to get up close to artists that one day, may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England in the UK and also the wider music industry and brands globally, Independent Venue Week brings together these venues along with breaking and established artists, promoters, labels, media, bloggers and tastemakers to create a nationwide series of gigs. These venues are the backbone of the live music scene in their country and Independent Venue Week wants to recognise all that they have done to create some of the most memorable nights of the past so they can continue to do the same in the future. Last Friday saw Gin Annie (today's Video Of The Day) release their debut album '100% Proof' via Off Yer Rocka. Gin Annie are a Hard Melodic Rock 5-piece from Wolverhampton, featuring heavy guitar driven songs whilst maintaining a melodic vocal style; hook-laden choruses and classy melodies.They are based around the nucleus of cousins, Dave Foster (vocals) and Byron Garbett (guitars). In November 2017, the Black Country rockers saw a change of line-up to form MKII of the band, with the addition of Brian Green on guitar and Phill ‘Hammer’ Burrows on bass. Drumming powerhouse Jack Ryland-Smith completes the group. Produced and engineered by Jay Shredder and recorded at Shredder Live Lounge, the new record is a hard hitting but Melodic Hard Rock masterpiece from last years HRH Highway to Hell Winners.

The legendary Prog band featured two original members, Peter French on vocals and Steve 'Boltz' Bolton on guitar, with Shug Millage (bass), Bo Walsh (drums) and Adrian Gautrey (organ/keys). Playing with the full blessing of Vincent Crane’s widow, the band's set included the hits 'Tomorrow Night' and 'Devil’s Answer' plus an encore and cover of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown's 'Fire' - the band of which Atomic Rooster were formed from the ashes of in 1969. Special guests were the check shirted Clearwater Creedence Revival who performed, surprise, surprise, the greatest hits of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Championed by none other than Zoot Money standing at the side of the stage, it was easy to see why these guys were back by popular demand.
