- The Mighty Parkland 8/5/21
Last year saw the release of Richard Townend & The Mighty Bosscats' 'Ticket to Memphis' and 'Live in Moscow', and on Thursday 30th September, Live At The Camden Chapel, a small, intimate, brand-new venue on the top floor of the London Irish CentreNW1 9XB, they will be launching their new album, (working title) 'Parkland', of which the 'title' track is today's Video Of The Day. It's an unusual recording, since most of it has been done remotely, but the collaboration has been international, including Anton Ilyan a tremendously talented keyboard player and physicist from Russia, Dennis Nazarov, an awesome musician, both of whom played on 'Live in Moscow', plus Marcus Cliffe (Manfred Mann, Jimmy Nail , Mark Knopfler) guesting on keys, guitar and bass. Further good news is that RT&TMB will also be playing The Tring Blues Club at the David Evans Court Theatre on Thursday 3rd June. Indeed, both gigs are 100% Covid compliant, therefore capacity is reduced to accommodate this, so there are limited ticket sales, so make sure you book now!
- Friday Rocks! 7/5/21
Given his dad Billy Steinberg co-wrote some of the most influential hits of the last century, including 'Like A Virgin' and 'True Colors', it's no surprise that Only Child, aka Los Angeles artist, songwriter, and producer Ezra Steinberg, approaches music with a youthful fearlessness as he blends Pop universality, Hip-Hop sensibilities, alternative adventurousness and bilingual vocals, in his latest single, 'Lust, The Mind KIller', one of today's six of the best 'Friday Rocks!' Tracks Of The Day, complemented by five further new and forthcoming releases from The Gorstey Lea Street Choir, Grafting the Vine, Cradle of Haze, Nothing Sacred and Zoe.
- The Ballad Of Jonny Ong 7/5/21
Last month, Jonny Ong returned with his out-of-this-world sound to bring the first full length since his debut, 'Isolation', a lavishly produced record detailing the multifaceted ways in which a breakup can change your life, of which his latest release, 'The Ballad of J and J’, is today's Video Of The Day. Indeed, it's a clear reference to Ong’s love of the Beatles, painstakingly and carefully setting out the story blocks in an autobiographical flowchart of a relationship which went bad. Written in seclusion, there is always an air of mystery to Ong’s work in this album, something secretive that it seems we are privy to in his private rooms as - it feels - we watch him paint pictures for us in song form. Also, boasting tracks such as the exquisite ‘Fools’, as well as sumptuous collaborations with fellow Singaporean singer-songwriter, Inch - ‘Taking Silence’ and ‘Wishful Thinking’ - this album delivers delight for the senses.
