- Talking Voodoo Room 16/12/21
"Billed as a 'Night Of Hendrix, Clapton & Cream' at 'The Marquee', this no doubt would have brought back happy memories to the blessed at The Beaverwood tonight, who actually saw the real thing at that iconic Club in London's Wardour Street back in 1967. Indeed, as I pointed out to guitarist Peter Orr, drummer John Tonks and new bass guitarist Jevon Beaumont, in our short interview backstage beforehand, unbelievably it's just over 50 years since Jimi left this mortal coil, and 53 years since Cream split for the first time." That was part of our gig review of Voodoo Room, who played The Beaverwood in Chislehurst, Kent, in October, and today's 'Talking Voodoo Room' Podcast Of The Day is the brief, but interesting chat we had with the guys before the gig.

In February, rising, incendiary Los Angeles native guitar maverick, Derek Day, released his wide sweeping and operatic single, ‘Fine Lines’, with today's visceral and hypnotising accompanying Video Of The Day, which is one of our six nominees in our 2021 WRC Video Of The Year award. While the song kicks off with a bright, full sound with yearning lyrics, it never settles into the simple repeating chorus structure one might expect. Instead, it embraces a baroque, emotive shape that continues to build as it goes, ending up closer in scope to that of Queen who Derek is a lifelong fan of.
