- Black Deer Day 3 Review 25/6/22
"They were playing Bob Dylan’s ‘Corrina, Corrina’ as I had to drag myself away to catch the opening of Van Morrison’s set on the main stage, which turned out to be a surprisingly joyous performance. The veteran singer led his superb band through a no filler set that stayed away from the mystic and concentrated on dance inducing Rhythm and Blues and bangers from the back catalogue: ‘Baby Please Don’t Go’, ‘Symphony Sid’, ‘It Stoned Me’, ‘Think Twice Before You Go’, ‘Gloria’, ‘Jackie Wilson Said’, ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ and so on, one after the other. It was superb." With our esteemed WRC correspondent Mother unfortunately feeling under the weather, our thanks to another esteemed WRC correspondent, Simon Green, for not only completing our coverage of Day 3 at Europe’s premier Americana playground Black Deer Festival, that ended at Kent's Eridge Park last Sunday, but for also adding some great Day 2/3 photos as well, plus check out today's excellent Ida Mae Video Of The Day.

The band are currently on tour with a few select dates in the UK and Europe promoting Chris's new album, and tonight’s gig in the London suburban town of Esher, was presented by legendary Disc Jockey Kid Jensen, who is also one of the theatre's patrons." Just a day before we're off to see his brother Mick at London's Hyde Park, today read the whole of Steven C. Gilbert's take on the Chris Jagger Band at the Esher Theatre from Friday 10th June, plus check out today's Jagger brothers Video Of The Day of 'Anyone Seen My Heart?', from Chris's latest album, 'Mixing Up The Medicine'.

One of the founding members of “the Scottish Beatles”, and also David Bowie song collaborators, The Beatstalkers, plus the co-founder and bass guitarist for the English Rock band, The Only Ones, last Friday Alan Mair returned with the hard-hitting, ‘The Devil’s Porridge', which tells the story of the harrowing working conditions of 12,000 Scottish female workers, in the largest explosives factory in the world, who were the unsung heroes of World War 1, of which the single is also one of today's six of the best 'Thursday Rocks!' Tracks Of The Day, complemented by five further new and recent releases from Osyron, Leviathan Project, Lisa Gerrard and Marcello De Francisci, Jailbirds and ProcessofGuilt.
- Zito On A Roll Again 23/6/22
"It was a great set, incorporating a few numbers that feature on his latest live album ‘Blues for the Southside’ including a masterful cover of SRV’s version of ‘Texas Flood’, as well as from recent studio album ‘Resurrection’, such as JJ Cale’s ‘I’ll Make Love to You’ and Blind Faith’s ‘Presence of the Lord’. Numbers alternated between slow burning Blues and his, I suppose you could say, trademark soulfully funky Blues." That was part of our take on Mike Zito's gig at London's 100 Club in February, so today we are once again indebted to our Swiss correspondent Marlène Rivet (pictured with Mike), for today's Video Of The Day of 'Rockin' In The Free World', filmed recently by Marlène at the Sierre Blues Festival on Thursday 9th June.
