  • Idlewar's Impulse 2/9/16

The WRC first had the pleasure of introducing you to Idlewar (Vid Of The Day) in September 2015. Fusing of old and new with the likes of AC/DC, Clutch, Soundgarden, Royal Blood, Foo Fighters etc. - they are not a reinvention of the wheel! With well constructed no nonsense hard and heavy rock songs, they are back with the release of their first full length LP entitled 'Impulse' on Friday 30th September on PHM. Idlewar continues on with a record that has a raw power that comes across sonically and in performance. The record shows the growth of this new band with a widened scope while still remaining quite firmly planted in a heavy hard rock genre. The record was given it’s final sonic punch being mastered by Brian Lucey (Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Ghost) and the guy's are off for their first UK tour in late November which will include Planet Rock Stock Festival!

  • The Apocalypse Blues Revue 15/8/16

The Apocalypse Blues Revue - the new band from Godsmack’s Shannon Larkin and Tony Rombola - release their new self titled album on the Provogue/Mascot Label Group on Monday 26th August. As the legend goes, Robert Johnson infamously started his career by meeting the Devil at the crossroads. By the same token, you could say Apocalypse Blues Revue (today's Vid Of The Day) began playing at the end of the world. Co-founded by Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin and guitarist Tony Rombola and featuring vocalist Ray “Rafer John” Cerbone and bassist Brian Carpenter, the quartet honors Blues traditions, while etching their stamp on the genre in blood.

  • Wrinklystock IV Raises The Bar Yet Again! 28/11/15

"Danielz rapport with the crowd continues and he has them eating out of his hand - especially when one fan asks for a number that is so obscure he suggests that probably about five people in the whole audience would know it but just to oblige he plays a few chords of the track - I can’t remember what it was - it was so unknown. The hits continue with ‘Telegram Sam’ and ‘Ride a White Swan’ and the action leads nicely up to the heavyweight finish – ‘New York City’ is followed by the classic ‘Children of the Revolution’, ‘Jeepster’ and the set finale ‘Get it On’. A standing ovation follows with deafening cries for more. That was never in doubt and ‘I Love To Boogie’ and ‘Hot Love’ have voices straining and no doubt many homes would be fairly quiet the next day!!" Read the rest of Wrinkly's Wrinklystock IV review here.

  • Trout + Nimmo = Route 66! 11/11/15

Today's Track Of The Day has two special guest interviews on this week's Route 66 show. Blues legend Walter Trout chats to Rory Auskerry about writing his latest album, 'Battle Scars'. Now recovered after a lengthy period in hospital for a liver transplant, Walter talks about the experience, his recovery, learning how to play guitar, and how good it feels to be back on stage again. As if that wasn’t enough on it’s own, Rory follows that up with an interview with Alan Nimmo, the singer and guitarist from one of Scotland’s most successful Blues and Rock bands. King King have won dozens of awards for their three albums to date and Alan talks frankly about the making of those records, debates over the band’s musical direction and touring with Blues legend John Mayall and later this year, Rock groups Gun and Thunder!
