  • Lifetime Achievement Award For WRC 23/6/16

    Well that's not entirely true! Suffice to say that the WRC are supporting this year's British Blues awards by sponsoring the Lifetime Achievement Award category! You have until next Thursday 30th June 2016 to study the finalists here and choose your favourites in each category. The presentation to the winners will take place at the Newark Blues Festival on Sunday 11th September.

    Also appearing at the Bowness Bay Blues on Sunday 20th March 2016 are our mates The John Verity Band. And with Friday 25th December on the horizon, JV has a new Xmas EP available here. JV told us "We chose some slightly rude, but funny tracks this time to make you chuckle this Yuletide whilst enjoying your Blues..." Meanwhile JV's next gig is an acoustic set with Russell Rodford (Jim's son) this Saturday 14th November at The 2 Brewers at Northaw, Potters Bar - starting at 8.30pm.

Taking place at the Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford on Saturday 26th November, headliners Limehouse Lizzy continue to keep the spirit of Lizzy alive, with special guests U2 Tribe.   • And Now For Something Completely Different! 21/5/16

    Well who are we to turn down a rallying call for ageing rockers, prog rockers, the mildly curious and Tull fans everywhere especially in the north of England? Cold Flame have announced a new Jethro Tull (our Vid Of The Day) tribute show - a welcome return for the band - live in concert at The New Roscoe music venue in Leeds on Sunday 5th June at 8pm. Cold Flame throw caution to the wind in a two hour special featuring the band performing the flute driven prog rock blues of Tull. Expect to hear a selection of Tull electric and acoustic classics mixed with rarely heard delights. Locomotive Breath here they come. Advance tickets are now available here.

    South African guitar slinger Dan Patlansky is host Rory Auskerry's guest this week on today's Route 66 Track Of The Day as they chat about DP's new album ‘IntroVertigo’ and his forthcoming tour with King King. Rory also plays two new tracks from the new album by former Procol Harum guitarist Robin Trower plus he also spins new tunes from the Kris Barras Band, Jane Lee Hooker and the Henrik Freischlader Trio.   • RM&TLBM At BATW Tonite! 17/3/16

    'Blues at The Woodlands' at the Woodlands Academy, Woodlands Road, Gillingham ME7 2DU returns tonight with Ryk Mead & The London Blues Machine. Ryk has built a reputation on solid experience gained alongside some of the worlds famous names such as Dave Gilmour, Annie Lennox, Alison Moyet, The Pretty Things, Steve Waller (Manfred Man's Earth Band), Paul Fox and Dave Ruffy (The Ruts), Elmer Gantry (Stretch/Alan Parsons Project), Beverley Martyn and a host of supporting musicians from the professional arena.   • Letterbox Blues! 15/3/16

    Route 66 host Rory Auskerry was very excited when Joe Bonamassa's new album 'Blues Of Desperation' came through his letterbox just hours before Sunday night's show. Therefore expect three great new tracks from the Blues Rock guitar legend on today's Track Of The Day plus two new tracks from Warrington based group The Black Circles and a new track from Birmingham based Broken Witt Rebels. Rory also remembers Keith Emerson with a classic piece of Prog Rock, as well as the death of 'the fifth Beatle', producer Sir George Martin, with three tracks he influenced. There is also music from AC/DC, Ry Cooder, The Rolling Stones, Gary Clark Jr., Billy Gibbons (pictured) and The BFG's, Julian Sas and Tedeschi Trucks Band!
