Recognised as one of the finest Blues singers in the UK, five times 'Best UK Female Vocalist', Connie Lush, will be performing with her band at The Eel Pie Club tonight. Earning her place in the gallery of greats, alongside Alexis Korner and Eric Clapton, Connie has also been twice voted 'European Blues Vocalist of The Year' by the 'French Blues Trophies Awards'. In recent years, Connie has performed in over 30 countries and has played at some of Europe's largest and most prestigious festivals, including Glastonbury Festival 2011, wowing audiences in Moscow, New York and LA plus she toured with the late B.B. King throughout the UK, finishing at The Royal Albert Hall! Doors open at 8.30pm and the music starts at 9.15pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted £10 admission.

We're grateful to WRC member Keith Baxter for this take on Larry Miller's recent gig in Kinross. "An ardent bunch of hardened Larry Miller fans witnessed him in all his glory. His vocal meanderings between songs only served to give us a heartfelt sense of belonging. Ranging from full on Blues rockers to quiet emotional songs, we the audience were privy to impassioned playing by a man unparalled in his field. Quite how he does it is an absolute mystery as it appears to pour out from his very soul. So we came away priveliged to have seen such a professional at the very top of his game." Nice one Keith - we pretty much had the exact same feeling after Larry headlined BluesFest 2013. And we make no apologies for Larry's opener once again being our Vid Of The Day!

Two weeks of recording has seen Blues Rock outfit Blacktop Deluxe add another ten Tracks to 'Suds & Crow' and so their second album is beginning to take shape! Bearing in mind tomorrow is the 71st anniversary of D-Day - one of their new tracks is 'Gibraltar Barn' - a humble tribute to the extreme bravery and sacrifice of the women and men of the Special Operations Executive (see our Video Of The Day). The Blacktops' are also still hopeful that the new album will include a possible very special guest guitar appearance on one (or even two tracks) if they are lucky enough to get his label to give him permission! "Thanks for braving the elements - luck of the Devils" bass guitarist Graeme Wheatley tweeted us the morning after the night before! Yes the weather was pretty crap as the WRC entourage got soaked walking along the embankment on Thursday night towards Tamesis Dock for 2014 WRC Award Winners Little Devils' album launch. The irony of the name of their new CD 'The Storm Inside' was not lost on us - but its recent critical acclaim was the carrot as we approached the Dutch Barge in torrential rain. Needless to say the evening improved once we had a beer and Little Devil's came on stage earlier than expected at around 9pm. Another wry smile as they opened with 'Storm Warning' and despite a few sound gremlins - they professionally shrugged that off and then launched into the impressive 'Heavy Weather' (cue another wry smile) that showcased all elements of this four-piece band plus their originality with lead singer Yoka Qureshi playing both the sax and flute. The set list then correlated with the CD as they followed up with 'Wounded', 'Skin Sin', the very catchy 'Deep Inside' and 'Birth Of The Blues' - highlighting the musical (and personal) chemistry between Yoka and lead guitarist (and partner) Ray Qureshi. B.B. would have loved that one. 'A Long Time Ago' (see Vid Of The Day) introduced Graeme on vocals with Yoka complementing on flute, however, the driving force of drummer Sara Shaw as the spine of Little Devils really hit home with the ballad 'The Ghost Of Your Kiss'. Yoka's vocals were back to the fore on 'All About Love' and their single 'My Perfect You' - perhaps this was the perfect storm! The last track from 'TSI' 'Stand' was sandwiched in between Bonnie Raitt's 'Love Me Like A Man' and 'Orphans Of The Storm' from their 2009 album 'This Is How It Starts' which in hindsight was indeed prophetic given the quality of this latest release. Suffice to say those that had the pleasure of attending the gig had forgotten about the storm outside but had loved 'The Storm Inside'. Go to our picture gallery here. AJ.

And talking of Albany Down - Fuzzwalker is a raw, rousing, riff-driven Indie Brit-Rock band that AD bass guitarist Billy Dedman and drummer Donna Peters have helped form from the bottom up. Up front they have found the next Noel Gallagher in a young lad called Matt Brook from Isleworth, and boy can he write a tune. And then to finish up the line up they have unearthed Carlos, a fine young guitarist of Spanish origin. It's a bit of a departure from the Blues Rock they are most known for but they hope with your support it can help them elevate Fuzzwalker. The guys have recently recorded a demo which they think captures the electric energy they are feeling in the rehearsal room before the launch of their first EP!

Sean Taylor has rapidly grown to be one of the hottest new names in the UK Blues/acoustic scene. His incredible passion for performance, sheer talent and songwriting of the highest calibre is a testament to his frequent comparisons with John Martyn, Chris Isaak and Tom Waits. So make sure that you get down tonight to see Sean at 8.30pm at the Tuesday Night Music Club at Hooley Village Club, St Margaret's Road, Coulsdon, Surrey, CR5 3RB!

After selling out headline shows nationwide in the US, millions of views for their singles 'Dangerous' and 'In Chains' (today's Vid Of The Day), multiple entries in the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and over 17 million combined streams, Shaman’s Harvest will start the new year with a 25-date tour on mainland Europe with their fellow US-rockers from Black Stone Cherry. Throughout the past two years, the Jefferson City, Missouri based band with principle band members Nathan Hunt (vocals & acoustic guitar), Josh Hamler (guitar) and Matt Fisher (bass) have toured North America extensively mixing headline, support and festival appearances within an on-going odyssey that has delivered a broad fan base and positioning as one of Rock's rising stars.

With a John Verity Band review waiting in the wings from Steve Potter, a WRC first the other evening was the live streaming of the gig via NMB Live. A dress rehearsal for BluesRockFest - the Inamo Covent Garden, London, feed was watched from Greenhithe in Kent to Ontario in Canada. Despite some expected gremlins - the sound and picture quality was apparently great - so if you can't go to BluesRockFest (why not?) - then watch out for news on our plans for live streaming during the day.
