The WRC introduced you to Broken Witt Rebels just over a month ago - a four-piece band from Birmingham who combine the power and intensity of Classic Rock with the finesse and delicacy of soulful blues. Putting their own original stamp on the Birmingham music scene, their latest EP, ‘Howlin’, was released in the Summer of 2014 and they are definitely on the rise. Previously supporting The View and playing up and down the country, the Rebels played the Zigfrid Von Underbelly in London on Saturday night and the whole gig (check it out at around 2 hours 38 minutes) is our Vid Of The Day!

If you like Classic Rock as it should be i.e. loud, dirty, fun and raunchy - then this is a no-brainer. From the ashes of 70's rock legends Straightshooter - a bit like the WRC - they are slightly older, slightly greyer, but still 'Recycled Teenagers ... hence the title of the album! All the trademark features you would expect from Procol are present: the double keyboards with the delicious interplay between hammond organ and piano, the steady authoritative bass lines, the majestic tunes and, of course, Gary Brooker’s commanding vocals. If some rock vocalists make life hard for themselves by adopting a vocal delivery in their early 20s that gets more and more difficult to pull off as they hit their 70s, then Gary Brooker chose wisely. Brooker’s cool and melancholic vocals are as strong tonight as they were in 1967, when the band first hit the charts with 'A Whiter Shade of Pale'." Blues On The Radio host Richard Dunning was delighted to welcome Sunderland legend George Shovlin to the studio earlier this week ahead of his showcase gig with The Radars at The Tuesday Night Music Club straight after the show. George played some of his favourite songs and spoke about his plans for world domination with The Radars.
