  • Tadstock 2016 14/5/16

And still on the subject of Festival's - a good friend of the WRC asked us to give Tadstock 2016 a mention - which takes place between 26th – 29th August at Kencot Hill Farm in Gloucester. Since partnering with Cheltenham based charity CCP and their music driven initiative – Studio 340, Tadstock has evolved to extend the support and opportunities available to aspiring young musicians, artists, technicians and a myriad of other roles by providing a professional festival experience for everyone to flourish in. Whilst the festival welcomes friends, families and music lovers from all walks of life and location, Tadstock gives young people supported by CCP the opportunity to showcase their musical talent and expand their knowledge and experience in a safe, inspirational and encouraging environment.

  • You Really Got Me! 29/10/15

Kast-Off Kinks are appearing tonight at The Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ. Not a Tribute Band - The Kast-Off Kinks actually contains three members of The Kinks, namely original drummer, Mick Avory, who joined them in 1964 and is still regarded to this day as the backbone of the original Kinks, John Dalton, bassist with The Kinks from 1969 until the late 70's and keyboard player, Ian Gibbons who was with The Kinks for 17 years and still plays and tours with Ray Davies. Indeed, the only only non-Kink is Dave Clarke (ex Noel Redding Band), taking the place of the Davies brothers! Tickets are £13 on the door and doors open at 8.30pm with the band due on stage at 9.15pm.

  • Gentlemans Pistols Underworld Tonight! 19/10/15

Gentlemens Pistols (our Vid Of The Day) have been causing a stir on the underground for a while now with their debauched lyrics, killer melodies and general Northern rock 'n' roll bravado! And they are literally going 'Underground' tonight as they are playing the iconic Camden venue following the release of their latest groove-laden album 'Hustler's Row' last Friday!

  • Resurrecting His Dead Horses! 23/10/15

It was certainly a case of apprehension as we approached the sold out London Borderline in February. We obviously had reservations about Academy award winner Ryan Bingham performing a solo acoustic set without his dearly departed 'Dead Horses' - who we salivated over when first saw them at Hard Rock Calling in June 2011. We needn't have worried - an easy early contender for our 2015 WRC 'Best Acoustic' award. And the cherry on the cake was that Ryan was returning to London in October with - wait for it - his band! And talking of Hollywood - as we said at the time - "we're gonna need a bigger boat" - hence our trip to the Koko, Camden last night! Anyway, more pics, vids and review to come - in the meantime enjoy today's Vid Of The Day taken last night!

  • BluesRockfest Review - The Troy Redfern Band 9 July 2015

"From the off with new song ‘Outta Time and Luck’ they told us just what to expect as the tight rhythm pounded out from the stage and they slid from that straight into ‘The Other Side’. Word has obviously spread about their live show and the room filled as they brought the tempo down to introduce a highlight of any set with ‘Salvation’. While the tempo dropped this allowed the audience to appreciate Troy’s assured vocals and a lengthy demonstration of just how to use a slide. Boogie this band do but as Troy’s trademark slide took centre stage the audience knew they were witnessing something a bit special To see the band then paying homage to their roots with ‘John The Revelator’ got everyone on their side and the call and response spread to the audience - not a baying crowd for sure but on a sultry sunny afternoon it was some achievement to get the crowd singing along." Read the rest of Mr. 'Blues On The Radio' Richard Dunning's BluesRockfest Troy Redfern Band review here.
