  • Busman's Holiday! 2 September 2015

After the Bank Holiday and as promised - normal service has resumed on the website we hope today. Anyway, another of one of those WRC "You Couldn't Make It Up" moments occurred during AJ's well earned mini-cruise over the weekend. Although he was expecting the West-End show 'We Will Rock You' to be part of the ship's entertaintment - he nearly choked on his cornflakes when he saw that our old muckers The Counterfeit Stones were also performing that night! Despite the fact there was no Brian Jones or Mick Taylor - there was of course Nick Dagger (pictured) and Bill Hymen! Today's Vid Of The Day gives you a flavour of what they are all about and for another one of those WRC "You Couldn't Make It Up" moments just ask us about the possibility of the Counterfeit's playing Wrinklystock at The Mick Jagger Centre!

  • Scorpions Are On The Move Again! 15/2/16

After last year’s massive sold-out world tour, including Ramblin' Man, the Scorpions are back to rock stages even harder as their gigantic 50th Anniversary World Tour continues with Eastern Europe in February before returning to the USA. Following the release of last year's 18th studio album 'Return To Forever' - the new tour edition of 'RTF' to be released on Friday 11th March comes opulently stacked with two brand-new live DVDs and a CD and is bound to make fans’ hearts leap for joy. Apart from the standard album’s twelve tracks (see review here), the CD contains all seven bonus tracks, which to date, have only been released on special editions of the album. The live DVDs are even more expansive, offering generous bonus material. Included are two complete concerts from last year: the open air gig at the French Hellfest Festival, where they headlined in June, and their show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

  • Big Boy Bloater & The LiMiTs Tour 8/2/16

Big Boy Bloater and The LiMiTs will be releasing their new album 'Luxury Hobo' on Provogue/ Mascot Label Group on Friday 26th February. The band will then be hitting the road for the 'Luxury Hobo' tour from Sunday 8th May including a show at the iconic 100 Club in London on Sunday 15th May. With a fascination for textures and subtle narratives 'LH' sees Bloater in a tougher, deeper and more expressive mode following a bout of depression in 2013 which has led it to take a lot darker and personal tone. His Tom Waits-esque gravelly vocal delivery, coupled with the distinctive and dynamic guitar style has seen him build on the Blues foundation offering insights into rockier territories, aided and abetted with his ability to weave story-telling around barbed observations.

  • Billy Walton Band Currently Touring UK 22/1/16

Newly named in the 2015 British Blues Awards in the top three of the Overseas Artist category, New Jersey's Billy Walton Band (photo: Amber Charach) tour of the UK started on Wednesday and ends on Tuesday 2nd February at The Beaverwood Club in Chislehurst, Kent. Their recent album 'Wish For What You Want' on Vizztone Records won the band new critical acclaim and memorable reviews - their sound a combination of hard, funky Blues reminiscent of Hendrix, Clapton and Vaughan. As guitarist with the legendary group Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Billy Walton recorded with Little Steven and jammed with Jon Bon Jovi. Billy has sat in with numerous rock luminaries including Bruce Springsteen, Gary U.S. Bonds, and Stevie Ray Vaughan's band, Double Trouble. The full, six-piece touring band comprises Billy, bassist William Paris, Tom Petracarro on sax, Matt Fischer on trombone, drummer Johnny D'Angelo, and Sam Sherman on keyboards. A new live album is imminent and a new studio album is in the works.

  • Thick Skin 10/2/16

Another day - another WRC Facebook posting! Mike Mcguire‎ contacted us to say "I'm a really big fan of Motion Device, their hard driving sound and excellent lyrics reeled me in hook, line and sinker. This is the Rock of our youth, coming to us with a fresh younger voice. Every bit as good as it was back then or today. Do your soul a favour and give them a listen! Motion Device IS the future of Rock and Roll! Well said Mike - backed up by Phil Lee who added "An excellent band, fully willing and capable of taking up the torch of rock and carrying if forward to a new generation. The most inspired I've been by a fresh band in decades!" Consequently Motion Device and their track 'Thick Skin' are our Vid Of The Day!

Owing to a "Brain Fart" - it might not be news to you - but we're all the same delighted to confirm that our seventh and final main stage band at BluesRockFest - taking place at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend, on Saturday 24th September - is Born Healer (our Vid Of The Day). Earlybird Tickets are still on sale for a limited time here for £15 (instead of £20). WRC Members only pay £15 - so why not head off here to sign up for free. Don't forget to check back next Saturday for a bonus announcement!

  • Different Shades Of Blues! 20 March 2015

Despite suffering with a chest infection, Joe Bonamassa stormed into the Hammersmith Apollo for the second of his four London gigs last night - so it was definitely a case of 'Live From Somewhere In Particular'. To be fair the jury has been out on Joe recently given the relentless JB juggernaut of new releases going hand in hand perhaps with the prohibitive cost to some of his Apollo tickets. Has Joe - and no pun intended - come to a 'Crossroads?'. We can always hark back to 2008 when we all walked out of the Shepherds Bush Empire with the biggest smiles on our faces for many a year after seeing Bonamassa for the first time - but hey things have to move on. Anyway, find out what our take was with a review and more pics out shortly. In the meantime - despite being taken up in the Gods - Joe naturally is our 'Video Of The Day'!
