While the WRC still await news on the Foo Fighters Wembley gig this Saturday given that Dave Grohl recently fractured his leg on stage in Gothenburg - Rory Auskerry's Route 66 Track Of The Day pokes a bit of fun at rockin' incidents with listeners inappropriate song suggestions. As well as launching a new Twitter page for the show this week - @rockinjockin - Rory also includes birthday tracks for Van Halen bass player, Michael Anthony and Muff Winwood of the Spencer Davis Group plus there's also new tracks from Thunder, Sonny Landreth and Dave Hunt.

The Joel Fisk & Jon Amor Electro Acoustic Duo originally came together as an experiment in the Summer of 2014, when the pair embarked on a short tour of the UK. The chemistry hasn’t gone unnoticed, as they’ve been nominated in the Acoustic Act of the Year category in the British Blues Awards two years running, leading them to be one of the most in-demand duos on the British Blues Scene.

Recent WRC Twitter activity from 'An Evening For Jack' included a retweet by 'Whispering' Bob Harris (pictured) that we were included in plus a like from Inglorious frontman Nathan James as the WRC solved the tweet thread "Who was the young bloke with the amazing, Robert Plant type voice who was brilliant at #aneveningforjack in #London?"

The melodic croon of ‘Love Behind You’ firmly engages ears and thoughts with another side to the band’s sound where pulsating beats align with a melancholic caress of guitar as Burkey’s voice shines with emotive expression. Shades of Snow Patrol here without doubt and encapsulated by the acoustic led ‘Slide By’ straight after. Elegant and sombre, the track is a serenade of acoustic and melodic flames which also builds more aurally dramatic points in its contemplation. Indeed, the electric guitar hook that drifts in and out of that song is also reminiscent of the mighty Coldplay no less.... We're playing catch up with today's Black On Blues Track Of The Day, another popular Blues women special featuring Elizabeth Hansen, Koko Taylor, Maria Carmi, Laja, Lara and The Bluz Dawg, Jane Lee Hooker, Eliza Neals and JJ Thames.

The British Blues Exhibition Live presents The Burlesque and Blues Revue, a night of burlesque and music from across Blues history to the very latest tunes. With special guest Peter Donegan, son of the Skiffle giant Lonnie Donegan, Blues innovator and humourist one man band Andy Twyman (Vid Of The Day - filmed by Jon Cook at BluesFest 2013), the duo Auld Man's Baccie, and The Great West Groove. Burlesque comes from the talents of Baby Boo, Blondie Valentine, Briar Rouge, Cerise Mae and Scarletta Fire. It promises to be a special night both visually and musically. "On arrival late Sunday morning we immediately made a beeline for the first act of the 2nd day which were UK hard rock/ Southern metal band Wicked Stone (Vid Of The Day) on the 4th Stage. Seemed a good place to start. Then we hotfooted (or walked in my case !!) off to the Main Stage to catch some heavy blues rock and roll courtesy of The Graveltones. This was followed by a trip to see some American rock on the Blues Stage with WRC favourites SIMO... Then another walk ensued to the Main Stage to catch NI rockers The Answer who WTS remembers seeing supporting AC/DC on their Black Ice Tour way back in 2009 !. Then it was back to the Blues Stage to see critically acclaimed Somerset rockers Tax The Heat who WTS has heard a lot about !! Taking advantage of a 15 minute programming gap, we made it back to the Main Stage to catch Aussie hard rockers Airbourne followed in turn by old favourites and comeback merchants Thunder. Had to make sure we were in position to see the start of veteran prog rockers Procol Harum who were headlining the Prog Stage and then had to reluctantly drag ourselves away to finish the day at the Main Stage seeing the eagerly anticipated headliners Blackstone Cherry who were top of WTS's list to see...." You will not be disappointed!

Big River release their brand new single 'Mama' via digital outlets on Monday 22nd August. The track is the first to be released from 'The West Sessions' EP and is the first original song written by the band and local songwriter Matt Knox. The 'West Sessions' comprise of four tracks recorded completely live during a beautiful July afternoon at an English countryside pavilion. The band all recorded in the same room, a large hall which gave a drum sound reminiscent of Headley Grange recordings from the 70's. Completely old school and influenced by the classic 'Live at the BBC' sessions and more recently the Radio 1 Live Lounge, this was the format Big River wanted for their first recording. Recorded and produced by Paul West and mastered by Pete Maher (Jack White, Thunder, Linkin Park, The Rolling Stones, U2), this was the perfect team to capture the live sound of Big River that is becoming a firm favourite on UK stages. Big River are Adam Bartholomew (vocals), Damo Fawsett (guitar), Ant Wellman (bass) and Luke Calvert (drums).

This week's Route 66 show includes two new tracks from the latest Laurence Jones (pictured at the 100 Club in June 2014) album which is out in just under three weeks. Today's Track Of The Day also has another new track from Jeff Beck plus Riccardo Grosso, Jimmy Bez Blues Band, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Samantha Fish and R. L. Burnside and classics from Queen, ZZ Top and JJ Cale. Host Rory Auskerry also pays tribute to The Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones who died on 3rd July 1969 and Bon Scott of AC/DC who was born this week in 1946.
