  • The Blue Bishops Are In Town! 19 Feb 2015

Members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted £8 admission at The Eel Pie Club tonight to see The Blue Bishops. Doors open at 8.30pm at the venue at The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ, with the band due on stage between 9pm and 11pm. To become a WRC member simply go here. Recently spotlighted in our 'Introducing ...' feature, The Blue Bishops work at the rocky end of the R&B and Blues spectrum. Yet, at the same time they are acknowledged for the sensitivity and dynamics of performances that can go from a whisper to a roar in just a few moments. A career spanning over 15 years has seen them perform in every kind of venue and situation from Holland and Hungary to Belgium and The Bahamas. Their last studio CD ‘Deep’ was awarded 9/10 by Blues Matters, who nominated it among the top ten albums of the year and they are currently writing their new album. Led by guitarist/slide player Simon Burrett, he is joined by lead vocalist/harmonica/guitar player Geoff Grange (Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, Sons of Heroes, Phil Collins, Terence Trent Darby), Jim Rodford on bass (currently with The Zombies and 17 year member of The Kinks) and Justin Hildreth (Joan Armatrading, Lene Lovich) on drums.

  • Bonamassa Retires - Buddy That Is! 31 Jan 2015

Please excuse the WRC for some self indulgence today, because around five years ago, certain WRC members started a greyhound racing syndicate and we politely asked JB connections whether it was OK to use his name - hence the name of our very first dog Bonamassa Buddy! Now after a very succesful racing career - Joe (which is his kennel name) has now put his paws up and retired - now living with Wrinkly (Colin) no less! Anyway our 'Video Of The Day' is therefore 'Joe's Story' - set of course to the classic Joe Bonamassa tracks of India and Mountain Time. Go Joe!

  • Ramblin' Man Fair - Sunday 25/7/16

"On arrival late Sunday morning we immediately made a beeline for the first act of the 2nd day which were UK hard rock/ Southern metal band Wicked Stone (Vid Of The Day) on the 4th Stage. Seemed a good place to start. Then we hotfooted (or walked in my case !!) off to the Main Stage to catch some heavy blues rock and roll courtesy of The Graveltones. This was followed by a trip to see some American rock on the Blues Stage with WRC favourites SIMO... Then another walk ensued to the Main Stage to catch NI rockers The Answer who WTS remembers seeing supporting AC/DC on their Black Ice Tour way back in 2009 !. Then it was back to the Blues Stage to see critically acclaimed Somerset rockers Tax The Heat who WTS has heard a lot about !! Taking advantage of a 15 minute programming gap, we made it back to the Main Stage to catch Aussie hard rockers Airbourne followed in turn by old favourites and comeback merchants Thunder. Had to make sure we were in position to see the start of veteran prog rockers Procol Harum who were headlining the Prog Stage and then had to reluctantly drag ourselves away to finish the day at the Main Stage seeing the eagerly anticipated headliners Blackstone Cherry who were top of WTS's list to see...." With Wrinkly The Silver's full Sunday review still to come plus pics from John Bull - also check out today's Ramblin' Man Track Of The Day!
