  • You Should Koko! 22/10/15

"Fresh from his previous night's gig at King Tuts in Glasgow - the Americana singer/songwriter launched into 'The Poet' - the first track of off 'Junky Star' - it's intimacy immediately palpable - the scene was set for a memorable evening. Another Dead Horses and 'Junky Star' classic followed - 'Depression' and the gig just flowed with the Hollywood in Bingham clearly evident in not only his looks but also his touching personal anecdotes that included his Grandfather and hitchhiking! But at the end of the day it was all about his delivery of a guitar and a voice to die for - perfectly illustrated on 'Hallelujah' - yet another stand out track from 'Junky Star' - which understandably charted in the US in 2010." That was our take on 'acoustic' Ryan Bingham in February and as promised he's back with his band tonight at the Koko in London. Watch out for a review, pics a vid over the coming days!

  • ... And All That Jazz! 27/10/15

"The set continued in similar fashion with punters jaws dropping open at some of the solos. In the end Joanne could not resist indulging herself by playing 'Manic Depression' from one of her childhood influences Jimi Hendrix. My personal favourite though was 'Blackest Day' which sums up emotions that so many of us have experienced and certainly is the case for JST. The complete set showcases all the skills she has developed from her idols - hard stuff like SRV - the bite a la Albert Collins and the riffs from the Jimi Hendrix book." That was Wrinkly's take on the first time the WRC saw Joanne Shaw Taylor (pictured by John Bull at Ramblin' Man this year) headline at the O2 Islington in May 2011. Four and half years down the line we are heading to the Jazz Cafe, Camden, tonight for the second gig of her two night residency. Watch this space for a review, pics and vids!

The Replicants lead singer Joe Head recently contacted the WRC about our Wrinklystock III DVD/MP3. By the way, you can order your Wrinklystock III DVD/MP3 here - and of course - The Replicants will keep that motor runnin' when they return to Wrinklystock IV on Saturday 21st November. • Charlie's Angels 10 Feb 2015

Good to hear from Charlie Hart from Slim Chance on their '2014 Best Acoustic Performance' WRC award. "I see we've been voted in, which feels like a great honour!" Seven year's after Ronnie Lane's death, Charlie was asked to put together a Slim Chance line up to act as house band at a projected Ronnie Lane Memorial Concert at the Albert Hall in 2004. The band that Charlie assembled contained Henry McCullough, Chrissie Stewart and Alun Davies (all of whom were original Slim Chance members) and they were joined by Geoff Dugmore and Geraint Watkins. They performed a couple of songs as a unit and were then joined by a succession of guests: Keith Smart, Chris Jagger, Sam Brown, Glen Matlock, Mick Jones, Pete Townshend, Paul Weller and finally Ron Wood. And as they say the rest is history as they intend to release a new album, mostly originals plus of course a few Ronnie songs in September and also intend to get out and about gigging in the Autumn. Anyway, enjoy our 'Video Of The Day'.

  • Rockin' Jockin' Tonight! 16 August 2015

Sad to report that we weren't the only one's with gremlins this week. Rory Auskerry's excellent Route 66 broadcast last Sunday had no 'listen again' link as they had some technical issues - hence we could not feature it as our 'Track Of The Day'. However, Rory's back live in the studio tonight here on Pure Radio 107.8FM at 6pm for some 'rockin' jockin' - and fingers crossed that it will also be our 'Track Of The Day' later this week!
