  • David's In The Picture! 22/2/16

A small number of WRC members sacrificed the Thunder gig at Wembley to enjoy a few after match beers with legendary DJ David Hamilton. David - who was one of our very first members - was presented with a WRC t-shirt as we discussed football and of course music including 'Rock 'n' Roll Back The Years' (see Vid Of The Day) - a show hosted by the broadcasting legend. A fantastic nostalgia show featuring fabulous band The Fugitives and the amazing Tiffany Girls - David promised to wear his WRC t-shirt at one of his gigs. For more information on dates and venues for 'RNRBTY' please go here.

  • LastMinuteBandz: The Kareña K Band 30/12/15

With a voice and classic writing style reminiscent of torch singers past, Kareña can belt out those Blues or sizzle with smoky Jazz vocals. Hailing from the north of England originally, Kareña came up through the big band scene there before embarking on what became an international music career that has taken her far and wide, including an appearance at Dubai Rock/Blues Festival with her Blues band Nightcalls. Now settled back in the UK she is currently working on her solo album with her new line up. Kareña is also involved in multiple recording projects with Wily Bo Walker, including ‘Moon Over Indigo’, WBW’s solo album, which involves some of the finest musicians from across the globe released in September 2015. So why not check out Karena's very own LastMinuteBandz page here?

  • Nearly Time To Get The Blues In Bowness! 4/2/16

With its beautiful lakeside setting and well-chosen programme, Bowness Bay Blues has built a reputation as one of the most enjoyable music festivals in the Northwest. There will be over 20 great acts to enjoy over the weekend of 18th-20th March, with music ranging from top-notch Acoustic Blues (from the likes of Al Hughes and Chris James) to scintillating Electric Blues-Rock from outstanding performers like Paul Rose, John Verity (Vid Of The Day) and Simon Honeyboy Hickling. Previous festival fans will recognise some names, such as Tommy Allen, Christian Sharpe, Dean Newton and Tin Pan Alley, as well as local favourites, the Elderly Brothers. Others will be new discoveries, including two of the most talented young British Blues bands around, Blue Horizon and the Della Grants. South Quay, featuring stunning vocalist Keri Farish, will be making their Bowness debut. The Friday headliners, Trafficker, were the talk of last year's Upton Blues Festival. Saturday will be topped by Sean Webster and the Deadlines (Track Of The Day), who have been taking Europe by storm. And Sunday will finish with virtuoso multi-instrumentalists Wille and the Bandits, listed in Radio 1’s top ten must-see bands at Glastonbury 2014. For further info on the Festival - please go here.

  • Mersey Beat! 27/6/16

Unlike some WRC members - we can't pretend that we were at London's Borderline nor Poole's Mr. Kyps in 2006 to see some American guitarist named Joe Bonamassa. Although to be fair, we were at Shepherd's Bush Empire for that wow moment in February 2008 and consequently went to see Joe again at Liverpool's Carling Academy in July that same year. Eight year's down the line and many gigs later, including The Royal Albert Hall, we are returning to Liverpool and its iconic Cavern Club - as we have the privilege of seeing JB at an exclusive gig tonight. So watch out for a review, photos and vids over the coming days!

  • Hatz Get Close In Kettering! 18/6/16

Following the launch of their new album 'Get Close', our mates Geoff Carne & The Hatz (our Vid Of The Day), are playing the Kettering B&M Festival today. The West London based duo consisting of Geoff Carne (guitar and vocals) and Mick Hatz (drums and percussion), are putting a fresh new feel on the Rock/Blues genre with their exciting original material (with a couple of covers). See you there!

  • Shoot-Out At The Half Moon! 23 September 2015

The eagerly anticipated shoot-out on the banks of The Thames had nothing to do with the Fulham v. Stoke Cup tie being played at The Cottage last night! No, the real deal was at The Half Moon, Putney, as the Blues Rock of support band Southbound took on the Classic Rock of Shooter at their 'Recycled Teenagers' launch party - very appropriate for the WRC! Anyway, were Shooter loud, dirty, fun and raunchy and did Southbound live up to their reputation as an extremely talented up and coming band? Well for starters take a gander at today's Vid Of The Day with more pics, vids and a review to come over the next few days!

  • Band Of Brothers! 27 August 2015

"We were then into ‘LIL’ territory with the groovy and foot-tappin’ ‘Tappin’ On The Glass’ and just to prove they could mix it up ‘I Am The Fool’ with its neat Country riff (originally written by Landreth Senior no less) cemented the strength of ‘LIL’ after just two tracks. The groove of ‘Made Up Mind’ was followed by the album’s title track (see Vid Of The Day), Joey preferring live electric to acoustic on the album – although still the same result – perfect. A couple more covers were thrown in for good measure: Lyle Lovett’s ‘If I Had A Boat’ and John Hiatt’s ‘Alone In The Dark’ – the former an enchanting acoustic/harmony gathering – the latter nailed – again despite no keys. Rhino and Dave were the archetypal spine of the band - with Rhino chipping in with a bit of banter whilst Dave proved later in the set that his brother was not the only one with great vocals!"
