- Gig #1 Tonite - Shooter! 3/3/16
A bit like London buses - no WRC gigs for a few days and then two come along at once. At the end of the day the WRC could not miss Shooter's farewell gig at The Half Moon Putney tonight. The band have been riding high in various rock charts with the single 'Turn It Up' and even had an attempt at smashing the Christmas charts late last year. Upon calling it a day - there was also a few nice words from Metal Talk here. Support tonight will be from WRC Award winners Southbound (pictured) so watch out for a few surprises tonight!
- It Came Outta The Swamp! 26/2/16
Big Boy Bloater and The LiMiTs release their new album 'Luxury Hobo' on Provogue/ Mascot Label Group today and our Vid Of The Day is the amazing 'It Came Outta The Swamp'! The band will then be hitting the road from Sunday 8th May including a show at the iconic 100 Club in London on Sunday 15th May. With a fascination for textures and subtle narratives 'LH' sees Bloater in a tougher, deeper and more expressive mode following a bout of depression in 2013 which has led it to take a lot darker and personal tone. His Tom Waits-esque gravelly vocal delivery, coupled with the distinctive and dynamic guitar style has seen him build on the Blues foundation offering insights into rockier territories, aided and abetted with his ability to weave story-telling around barbed observations. Watch out for a CD review shortly.

- Mysterious Ways! 16/12/15
All roads led to a special London show at The Borderline last night where U2 2 were in concert with all money raised going to Mencap. The show had been set up with ambassadors from Mencap including The Edge’s cousin, Ciara Lawrence Evans, making a speech to highlight Mencap’s ongoing work. Well we saw the real thing at the O2 Arena, London, (pictured) in October so did the world’s longest running U2 tribute, formed by current members in 1992, performing over 1000 shows, spanning three continents - move in 'Mysterious Ways'? Watch out for a review, pics and a vid over the coming days!
- Stevie Nimmo Trio To Headline BluesRockFest 2016 1/1/16
Exclusively revealed in yesterday's January 2016 WRC Bulletin - yes the Stevie Nimmo Trio are headlining this year's 2016 BluesRockFest at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend on Saturday 24th September. As one half of Scotland’s highly respected ‘Nimmo Brothers’ who won 'Best Band' in the 2015 British Blues Awards, Stevie Nimmo has been a well known and respected figure throughout the Blues and Roots world for over 20 years. The Nimmo Brothers are taking an indefinite hiatus while Stevie and Alan pursue their solo projects. Consequently, Stevie is now enjoying a new adventure in a full-on, electric, no-holds-barred trio format. The recording of their new album (produced by King King Drummer/Producer Wayne Proctor) is done and a release is set for early 2016. Don’t miss this chance to catch an artist at the top of his game doing what he does best – standing on stage playing his own music in his own passionate, inimitable fashion. You will not be disappointed!
- The Colour Purple! 23/12/15
"The next song was again from the 1987 Whitesnake album, 'Give Me All Your Love' and this was followed by 'Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City'. The following three songs, however, were from the Purple album, with 'Mistreated' the next. Personally I didn’t think the “Snaked-up” version of this song with twin guitars worked and needed the Coverdale/Blackmore bluesy collaboration. 'You Fool No-One', however, more than made up for it though with this culminating in a stunning Tommy Aldridge drum solo before Reb Beach exchanged his electric guitar for an acoustic one for the 'Stormbringer' classic 'Soldier Of Fortune'." Read the rest of Phil Thornton's review here - the final part of the Def Leppard/Whitesnake/Black Star Riders trilogy. Also have a look at our photo gallery here.
