- Marriage Made On The Highway To Hell 5/6/16
Suppose it's fair to say that the jury was out in advance of last night's AC/DC gig at London's Olympic Park given the shoddy nature of the departure of lead singer Brian Johnson in favour of Guns 'N' Roses frontman Axl Rose. Some said that Axl's ego was too big for the band - other's said that Rose's voice would be better suited to Bon Scott's era. Consequently tickets were returned (it wasn't sold out) but on the other hand the voyeurs in us had to check out this marriage made on the highway to hell - and who could not turn down this two for one offer? Anyway with a review and more pics to come have a gander at our Vid Of The Day.
- Frankly My Dear ... 26/5/16
All roads lead to The Borderline tonight to see The Franklys (Vid Of The Day) - an all girl rock 'n' roll band based in London - 50% Swedish, 25% British, 25% American, 100% rock ’n’ roll! This four piece force of nature features a rhythm section as solid and driving as an army tank, which consists of all-American drummer Nicole Pinto and home grown talent Zoe Biggs on bass. Fronting up the quartet like a pair of firecrackers are Swedish pair Jen Ahlkvist (lead vocals and rhythm guitar) with her bitter sweet and ever so edgy vocals, and Fanny Broberg (lead guitar), contributing double-barrelled screaming guitars and melodic guitar hooks, lending a rich variety to the styles and sounds that cascade off the stage. Support is from False-Heads + King Korea.
- Sizzling Track Of The Day! 31/5/16
The sun has been out, Route 66 host Rory Auskerry has been at a BBQ and the tunes are sizzling hot on today's Track Of The Day! Check out new tracks from Albany Down (pictured and who are playing London's 100 Club tonight), Albert Castiglia and the Honey Island Swamp Band. Also on the show, Rory celebrates the birthdays this week of two members of the Rolling Stones; Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, and two members of Led Zeppelin; John Paul Jones and the late John Bonham. There's also a really cool track from Tasmanian rocker Rob Tognoni and classic tunes from Jeff Beck, Chuck Berry, Lonnie Mack and Aerosmith.
- 100 Up For Big Boy! 16/5/16
Big Boy Bloater and The LiMiTs released their new album 'Luxury Hobo' at the end of February and the band began their tour this week which included a show at the iconic 100 Club in London last night. With a fascination for textures and subtle narratives 'LH' sees Bloater in a tougher, deeper and more expressive mode following a bout of depression in 2013 which has led it to take a lot darker and personal tone. His Tom Waits-esque gravelly vocal delivery, coupled with the distinctive and dynamic guitar style has seen him build on the Blues foundation offering insights into rockier territories, aided and abetted with his ability to weave story-telling around barbed observations. Watch out shortly for a review, more pics and an interview - but in the meantime check out our Vid Of The Day.
- Nowhere To Hide! 12/4/16
