  • Teramaze-ing! 30/10/15

Melbourne, Australia’s Progressive Metal ensemble, Teramaze, first release for The Mascot Label Group - ‘Her Halo’ hits music stores today! Teramaze was originally formed during lead guitarist/producer Dean Wells teenage years. The band put out a couple albums in the early years, but it wasn’t until the release of ‘Anhedonia’ in 2012 that Wells felt the modern version of Teramaze actually began. That third album was met with critical acclaim, as was the follow up of 2014’s ‘Esoteric Symbolism’, which saw the quartet making a bolder statement and taking no prisoners to flex their musical muscle even further. Now with new vocalist Nathan Peachey, Teramaze have arrived with their cinematic ‘Her Halo’ - a new beginning that not only brings about more potential, but promise as well. The vid for the first single off ‘Her Halo’ - ‘Out of Subconscious’ - is today's Track Of The Day!

  • Under Sniper Fire! 15/10/15

We were deighted to hear from former WRC Award winner Clare Free (pictured at the Colour House Theatre, Merton, in 2011) who is expecting a baby just before Christmas! Of course this means time off from the road for Clare and gives her the time to work on some new music! Anyway, her new single 'Sniper Fire' here is now out now and available from all major download sites. It blends samples, loops, hip hop drum beats and programed sounds with live guitars and vocals. Clare added "I have wanted to make music like this for a long time and now I have had the chance to do so and personally I love it." For any feedback or to contact Clare, please visit her website here.

  • Burning Bridges! 5 September 2015

"If Sambora’s departure offered any chances for the remaining band members to reconnect or reinvent themselves, they have been squarely ignored. JBJ, for example, could have revisited the confessionalism of his 1997 solo album, Destination Anywhere’. Keyboard player David Bryan – the composer behind Broadway musical ‘Memphis’ – might finally have been given a moment to shine. They could have tried, well, something new. Instead, ‘Burning Bridges’ is the sound of a band at its least inspired – many of these tunes are cast-offs from old sessions, dusted off and, presumably, spitefully overdubbed with new guitar parts (no credits are included)." • Aynsley's Back! 29 Jan 2015

Aynsley Lister literally played through the pain barrier at The 100 Club on Tuesday night. Suffering from a trapped nerve in his back (which necessitated the cancellation of his Robin 2 gig last Thursday no less) and consequently drugged up to the eyeballs on painkillers, Aynsley put in a killer performance which belied the agony he's been in. Drawing mainly on tracks from his last album 'Home' - for which Lister deservedly won both 'Best Blues Song ' and 'Best Songwriter' at the 2014 British Blues Awards - his undoubted quality as a guitarist and vocalist is not only complemented by the strength of his back-catalogue e.g. 'Equilibrium' but also his band - despite another change in his line-up since we last saw them at last year's Bluesfest. A great set to end a great evening of live Blues - but no pat on the back Aynsley! See our review here.

  • Laying Down The Tracks! 10 Apr 2015

Ahead of his recent show at The Tuesday Night Music Club in Coulsdon, Surrey, Richard Dunning was joined in the Croydon Radio studio by Ged Wilson. As well as playing live and selecting some great music that has influenced him - Ged also chatted and introduced the origins of his sound on today's 'Track Of the Day'. Rich of course also squeezed in the normal mix of brand new releases, IBBA choices of the month and the odd one that'll bring back memories. As ever you can be assured of one thing - it'll be two hours well spent in the company of the Blues!

  • David Reaches For The Sky! 9 April 2015

Must admit the WRC had to do a double-take seeing David Sinclair on Sky News on Tuesday night discussing the meaning of Don McLean's ‘American Pie’ lyrics which he (Don that is) had just sold for $1.2 million! No doubt the next time we see David and The Sinclair Four will be a special hometown show at The Borderline, London, on Thursday May 14th to celebrate the band’s new album '4' released on Critical Discs/IRL three days earlier. With one foot in the Blues and the other striding through the modern musical metropolis - including contributions from harmonica man Paul Jones, lovers rock legend Maxi Priest and Scottish jazz singer Lorna Reid - it's Sinclair's most storied collection of songs yet. Combining dry, lyrical with a hard-hitting brand of rock ’n ’roll, Sinclair’s group has built a formidable reputation as a live attraction, sharing stages with Wilko Johnson, the Oli Brown Band, Marcus Bonfanti, Johnny Dowd, Graham Bonnet, Willie Nile (UK Tour 2013) and many others.

  • Steven Wilson Photo Gallery Now Available 29/1/16

Wow! What a night we had at the Hammersmith Apollo on Wednesday from the four-time Grammy nominee, multi-instrumentalist and producer Steven Wilson! There was something for everyone - kicking off with his acclaimed 'Hand. Cannot. Erase' album in its entirety plus a second half mix of Porcupine Tree (see our Vid Of The Day), Storm Corrosion, his new interim album '4 ½' released last Friday, a Bowie tribute and rounded off with a memorable performance of 'The Raven Who Refused To Sing'. Amazing. Anyway watch out soon for Mr. Prog's take on the evening but in the meantime check out our Photo Gallery here.
