Must admit the WRC had to do a double-take seeing David Sinclair on Sky News on Tuesday night discussing the meaning of Don McLean's ‘American Pie’ lyrics which he (Don that is) had just sold for $1.2 million! No doubt the next time we see David and The Sinclair Four will be a special hometown show at The Borderline, London, on Thursday May 14th to celebrate the band’s new album '4' released on Critical Discs/IRL three days earlier. With one foot in the Blues and the other striding through the modern musical metropolis - including contributions from harmonica man Paul Jones, lovers rock legend Maxi Priest and Scottish jazz singer Lorna Reid - it's Sinclair's most storied collection of songs yet. Combining dry, lyrical with a hard-hitting brand of rock ’n ’roll, Sinclair’s group has built a formidable reputation as a live attraction, sharing stages with Wilko Johnson, the Oli Brown Band, Marcus Bonfanti, Johnny Dowd, Graham Bonnet, Willie Nile (UK Tour 2013) and many others.

Malaya Blue has been causing heads to turn and jaws to drop on the British Blues circuit since the release of her stunning debut album ‘Bourbon Street’ mid-way through 2014. With very little PR hype or support it quickly reached No. 1 on the British Independent Blues Broadcasters chart causing a flurry of media interest and resulting in being voted into 2nd place in the Blues Matters Writers Poll as Best Newcomer. Guitarist Stuart O'Brien tells us that The Pre-Nups are soon to go into the studio to record a CD. Stuart said "Not sure how many songs we will get but aiming for as many as we can!" Don't forget that The Pre-Nups will be supporting The Replicants at The Carlton Centre in Sidcup on Saturday 18th April. Doors open at 7pm with The Pre-Nups taking the stage at 7.30pm. Anyway our 'Video Of The Day' is 'Desperate Youth & Lonely Bones' the excellent single from their 2014 EP Conjure & Sin - the first volume from an EP Trilogy. By merging progressive, alternative and mainstream elements - Luna Kiss have created their own identity. The guys are touring in Germany in March with 2014 WRC award nominees The Brew and were on the bill for last years HRH Prog Festival alongside former WRC Award winners The Pineapple Thief.

We might be wrong but we have a sneaky feeling that there will be no WRC Award winning Rock On The Ridge show tonight! The good news though is that you will probably catch Bob & Jules at this weekend's Defest at DeStafford School playing fields in Caterham, Surrey - 2 days of music and fun for the whole family. In this wonderful world of music - news travels fast. So it was good to hear from our American correspondent Rick Menniti recently about his Blues trail trip through Mississippi in February plus last week's New Orleans Jazz Fest which included Thursday: Sonny Landreth, Gary Clark Jr., and Tedeschi Trucks, with Billy Gibbons (pictured) and Jimmy Vaughn, Friday: The Revivalists and Paul Simon, and Sunday: Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt and Trombone Shorty! Watch out for a write-up shortly, however, the real reason why Rick got in contact was Dave Gilmour's spine-tingling tribute to Prince during his Royal Albert Hall gig last Sunday. As usual Gilmour let his guitar do the talking during 'Comfortably Numb' (our Vid Of The Day), as he suddenly shifted into an expressive Purple Rain' tribute. Even the lighting went purple!

And on the subject of turning the clock back - today's Vid Of The Day is taken from the halcyon days of the Old Grey Whistle Test - a Billy Cobham special presented by none other than whispering Bob Harris! Not only that but Cobham (founding member of The Mahavishnu Orchestra) will be conducting a live streamed drums master class webcast here from the Evans Drum Heads studio in New York City tonight at 7pm UK time. During this Pay Per View event, you will be able to ask questions via real-time chat. Billy will also be discussing the attributes of group collaboration, what happens on a jam session, and how you can get the most out of that playing experience. He'll also be sharing his thoughts about playing the drums in constructive ways, whether on your own or within a rhythm section.

Just under two months after the GNR gig in 2012 at Hard Rock Calling under a pagoda in Hyde Park we saw Halfway To New York for the first time - supporting Bruce Springsteen! So the WRC were delighted to hear recently from vocalist Sam Burkey following the release of their very first album 'Tremor' last week. Not only that but the guys are playing the O2 Islington Academy on Thursday 5th May. Anyway, watch out for a review of their new CD shortly.

Today's Black On Blues Track Of The Day has an Antipodean slant this week! Yes it's another 'Blues Women Special' featuring Val Starr & Blues Rocket, Kyla Brox, Anni Piper, Angels Sing The Blues, Debbie Bond, Fiona Boyes and Kellys Lot.

The first live music event by the British Blues Exhibition took place at the Proud Camden, London, last night. Thanks to helpers including people from the Cambridge Rock Festival, the Pro-Music Agency and more (including the WRC of course) - the organisers promise that these night should be taking place every 2-3 months from now on! With Blues dancers, some previously unseen items from the British Blues Exhibition collection, Blues names for guests, and music from The Laura Holland Band, The Saiichi Sugiyama Band and Pete Brown (see Vid Of The Day) - co-lyricist with Cream - it turned out to be a highly entertaining and original night. Watch out for more pics, vids and a review shortly.

For the first time ever, Sunday's Route 66 show gave Youtube live streaming a try and to be honest it was an outstanding interactive success despite host Rory Auskerry's dodgy dancing!
