  • Radio Luxembourg Calling! 7 September 2015

Hands up those of you who used to twiddle your transistor radio knobs to listen to Radio Luxembourg in the 60's? Following the demise of the pirate radio stations at the end of the 60's, Radio Luxembourg was once again the only provider of popular music, well at least during the night. So the WRC were delighted to receive our latest membership application from Alfred in Bertrange, Luxembourg! Don't forget you can still fill out a form here to become a WRC member for life for FREE and we'll consequently send you a WRC members card which you can not only use to benefit from discounted WRC Xmas Party tickets but also other current members offers e.g. discounted venue tickets and merchandise - which we also hope to add to in the future.

  • Ramblin' Man Fair Review - Sunday 26th July 3 August 2015

"Despite it being my **th birthday – it was a case of drat and double drat given the rain plus the anticipated problems with ‘Operation Stack’ as Wrinkly The Elder and I set off down the M20 on Sunday morning. Given Saturday’s good weather and the excellent WRC twitter coverage from both Mr. Rockrpix and Wrinkly The Silver – it looked like Sunday was going to be a hard act to follow. But hey-ho - we had already planned our itinerary for the day’s proceedings with our website countdown the week before and things were looking even better as we easily managed to park up in a side road close to the entrance. As the WRC crew consequently gathered together under the protection of the beer tent - life didn’t appear so bad after all - until Wrinkly realised that the two pints of Pimm’s in his round set him back £23.60. Ouch! Go here for the rest of AJ's review, here for our Sunday photo gallery plus have a gander at our Seasick Steve Video Of The Day from the Sunday!

  • BluesFest 2013 Memories - Moore & Kyle 17 June 2015

"On the face of it, the next act, Nicky Moore and Danny Kyle had been unfairly placed between power Rock Blues acts. One steel guitar and one voice versus all that Blues Rock? No contest, you might think. An open invitation for the audience to drain away. Not a chance of that with the voice of Nicky Moore, a voice of ten normal mortals, and Danny Kyle's intricate guitar work. From the opening number, 'Fruitpickers' Blues', through the title track on their unparalleled new album, 'TheWhale And The Wa'ah', the pair won over the crowd. Nicky's voice is a beast in Blues terms, a finely honed power tool that once fronted metal acts Samson and Mammoth. It can still cut through steel. Encore calls came thick and fast and Nicky played favourites from his fine band, Nicky Moore's Blues Corporation, to great applause." Today's Track Of The Day is our official Wrinklycast of that memorable day which includes music and interviews from all the bands of the which the official DVD/CD (our Vid Of The Day) is still available from our merchandise page here.

  • Ride A Black Swan! 22/12/15

"At this time of year when 'Fairytale Of New York' is churned out once again - the Ugly Ducking fairytale in reverse springs to mind given Black Star Riders reinvented themselves from Thin Lizzy. This point is hammered home as Lizzy legend Scott Gorham makes his way on to the Wembley stage just before 7 to a half empty arena. With a restricted forty minute set, literally 'All Hell Breaks Loose' as BSR hit the ground running with the classy title track from their very first album - with Gorham's guitar already in overdrive. Ricky Warwick then asks "Are You Ready?" and of course the arena starts to rock as those unique Lizzy guitar harmonies ring around the auditorium. It's then back to the title track of their second album 'The Killer Instinct' which again has those distinct Lizzy chords with guitarist Damon Johnson showing that he's just not there to make up the numbers. We then see-saw back to 'Jailbreak' - Warwick's vocals as usual are spot-on for my all-time favourite Lizzy track. Brilliant. 'Bound For Glory' was followed by the opening Celtic drum intro from the excellent Jimmy DeGrasso on 'Kingdom Of The Lost' also from 'AHBL' - a latter day 'Black Rose'. However the stand-out BSR track of the night was 'Finest Hour' from 'TKI' - not forgetting new recruit Robert Crane on bass (who replaced Marco Mendoza) completing a formidable BSR unit. The guys finished with 'Whisky In The Jar' and to be pefectly honest we could have quite easily gone home happy after that opener. Black Star Riders might still have a bit of an identity problem but who cares when they produce music of this quality." AJ. Have a look at today's Vid Of The Day plus our photo gallery here.
