"As the first song came to an end, the band would show off just how much fun they have performing on stage, as their between-song-banter is second to none. Frontman Chad Kroeger jokes with the crowd like few others can, and how they’re able to stand on stage and sing “silly” songs with titles like ‘Something In Your Mouth’, which they’d go on to perform next. Kroeger is something of a motormouth when it comes to his patter between songs. You largely suspect he loves the sound of his own voice, but as the frontman of one of the bigger bands in the world, you probably would need a sizeable ego to pull you through it .. or a couple of Jaegerbombs, courtesy of the suited-and-booted booze supplier/ tour manager Bradley which he and the band indulged in. . In short, he makes being a rockstar look like fun, rather than a full-time job like some of Nickelback's peers, and the girls on the front row are loving every second of The Chad. Awesome new heavy UK 3-piece Cortes and their second single ‘Towers’ is today's Vid Of The Day. Released through Ignition records (home to Oasis, Stereophonics, Primal Scream, Band Of Skulls and more), they’ve developed a sizeable profile already, gaining continued radio plays from Annie Mac and Zane Lowe, as well as landing spots in last week's New Music Friday Spotify playlist, and Apple's Best Of The Week and A List Rock. Cortes are also performing a headline show at Tooting Tram & Social on Friday 2nd September.

"The second half of the set focused on new numbers such as the anthem ‘Sex on Fire’ followed by the Wrinkly challenge ‘Sweet Emotion’ - they smashed it and we were reminded of that by the band who “gestured” to that effect. Just as we thought it couldn’t get any better they pulled another rabbit out of the hat as they introduced their special guest 14 year old drummer Liam O’Kane - the crowd roared their appreciation as Liam powered out ‘Lil Devil’, ‘Ace of Spades’ and ‘Smoke on the Water’ - how can a young man of 14 play classics like that so well? A standing ovation followed which was never in doubt and was followed by the usual closing anthem ‘Rebel Yell’ during which the guys were joined by some of the adults, the organisers and of course Liam!" Our third WRC gig in four days and the standard was still very high! Last night we got a bargain two for one at London's iconic 100 Club with headliners Tommy Castro & The Painkillers plus acoustic support from Sari Schorr & Innes Sibun (see today's Vid Of The Day). Respectively, both the American Blues, R&B Rock guitarist and singer, and the Blues Hall of Fame singer and songwriter, entertained a very appreciative audience. To be honest. tonight is the very first time that the WRC have seen Iron Maiden live as they headline Download's 'Lemmy Stage'. If it's as good as their last album 'The Book Of Souls' then we are in for a treat. Also on the WRC itinerary today are The Franklys (pictured), The Temperance Movement, Halestorm, Disturbed and Saxon.

The launch of the Blackfen TRADER just under twenty three years ago gave the opportunity to feed the passion of two lifelong friends to cut their teeth in music journalism, reviewing local gigs, particularly at The Woodman in Blackfen, Kent, in their monthly ‘Caught Live’ column. And ever since that non-internet era their mutual appreciation of live (mainly Rock) music has grown into a musical appreciation network: The Wrinkly Rockers Club. So tonight we return to where it all started (now called The George Staples) - as the WRC take in Run For Cover (Classic Rock Covers) and Glamstar (Glam Rock Tribute) tonight from 8pm. Admission is free!

Yes it's a busy weekend for the WRC with both AC/DC at London's Olympic Park this Saturday plus Bruce Springsteen at Wembley the following day (where we have another ticket going spare). "The crutch lying next to JD Simo on the Barfly dressing room floor was a mighty shock as we learnt during our pre-gig interview that JD had a "Dave Grohl moment" when he dislocated his knee on stage on the first leg (no pun intended) of SIMO's European tour in Paris three days earlier. The stock question of "how's the tour going so far?" met on this occasion with an incredulous answer! Anyway, White Hot Nashville Blues trio SIMO returned to London following their critically acclaimed St. Moritz Club showcase gig plus their Walter Trout support at The Forum last November."
