- The Night Gary Called Us C**t's! 27 Feb 2015
Sam Kelly's brilliant anecdotes on Richard Dunning's recent Blues On The Radio podcast - and in particular re: the late great Gary Moore - reminded us all of Gary's gig at Charlotte Street Blues in London on 6th April 2010. It was a last minute gig at an intimate setting and not only were the WRC lucky to get tickets but we also managed to get right up and close to the great man himself. Gary opened with 'Oh Pretty Woman' and immediately a few of us down the front made the most of our advantageous position by taking a few pics. Unfortunately, Mr. Moore took exception to this after 'OPW' in warning us - "You c**t's taking pictures better have a licence!" At this point - to a man - and with discretion being the better part of valour - we all decided to put our cameras away. Anyway one guy kept his video running - hence our awesome 'VOTD' - and if you look closely towards the left of the stage you can spot Wrinkly and AJ at the front! And finally - one of the pics AJ did manage to take - adorned our official WRC t-shirt as a tribute to Gary when he tragically died the following year.
- Oscar Winning Ryan Bingham Up Next! 28 Jan 2015
Well the WRC gig rollercoaster is now well and truly on the move and next up is Academy Award winner Ryan Bingham at a sold out Borderline next Monday. The WRC originally saw Ryan with his band The Dead Horses at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park in June 2011 and were blown away. Needless to say we didn't hesitate to purchase tickets once the gig was announced. If you are going as well then please let us know :-)
- We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat! 4 Feb 2015
Given the title of Ryan Bingham's new album 'Fear And Saturday Night' - it was certainly a case of apprehension and Monday night as we approached the sold out Borderline in London. We obviously had reservations about Academy award winner Bingham performing a solo acoustic set without his dearly departed 'Dead Horses' - who we salivated over when first saw them at Hard Rock Calling in June 2011. Not only that but the evening was further stripped back with no support although the good news was that we consequently stumbled across a nugget of a rock pub close by before getting back to The Borderline for a 9pm start! Fresh from his previous night's gig at King Tuts in Glasgow - the Americana singer/songwriter launched into 'The Poet' - the first track of off 'Junky Star' - it's intimacy immediately palpable - the scene was set for a memorable evening. Another Dead Horses and 'Junky Star' classic followed - 'Depression' and the gig just flowed with the Hollywood in Bingham clearly evident in not only his looks (pics are here girls) but also his touching personal anecdotes that included his Grandfather and hitchhiking! But at the end of the day it was all about his delivery of a guitar and a voice to die for - perfectly illustrated on 'Hallelujah' - yet another stand out track from 'Junky Star' - which understandably charted in the US in 2010. What about 'Fear And Saturday Night' I hear you ask? Well the smell of fear when you generally hear the introduction "This is from the new album" was not an issue - given the seamless way in which 'Broken Heart Tattoos', 'Radio' 'Top Shelf Drug' (Video Of The Day) and the title track stood up to his big hitters. Have to say though that the stand out tune of the night was the encore 'Bread And Water' and if that didn't get your juices going then there's no hope I'm afraid. Anyway Bingham proved last night what a consumate performer he is - O ye of little faith we hear you cry! And the cherry on the 2015 cake is that Ryan is returning to London in October with - wait for it - his band! Do not miss out on that - although talking of Hollywood - we're gonna need a bigger boat!

We think it was worth waiting for so go here to see our Photo Gallery of the Aynsley Lister/Little Devils/Stark gig at the 100 Club on Tuesday night. It might not be up to John Bull or Jon Cook's standards but hopefully this WRC collage will give you a feel as to what a great night it was. Thanks also to Kelly Davis who contacted us to say "Thanks so much for giving Stark such a great review. They've had a pretty amazing time this week - Skegness on Sunday, Haven Club in Oxford on Monday and the 100 Club on Tuesday! Well we saw the real thing at the O2 Arena, London, in October (pictured) but tonight the WRC are off to a special London show at The Borderline where U2 2 will be in concert with all money raised going to Mencap. The show has been set up with ambassadors from Mencap including The Edge’s cousin, Ciara Lawrence Evans. Ciara will be making a speech to highlight Mencap’s ongoing work and U2 2 will be performing a full show. U2 2 are the world’s longest running U2 tribute. Formed by current members in 1992, they have performed over 1000 shows, spanning three continents. Watch out hopefully for a review, pics and a vid over the coming days!
- Something Supernatural! 7/11/15
So much good music - so little time! The WRC are so fortunate to have strong ties with fans, bands and of course publicists. Consequently Pennsylvanian band Crobot have been on the WRC radar for a while now but it wasn't until AJ (appropriately on a flight back from the US recently) found 'Something Supernatural' on the Virgin playlist (among other WRC favourites such as Blues Pills, Steven Wilson and Blackberry Smoke) - something that AJ was well impressed with! Fortuitously he recalled they were due to play The Underworld in London - and to be told if you’re a fan of the album you’ll be absolutely blown away by their live show - consequently last night's gig was a no-brainer. Anyway a review and John Bull's pics to come - but in the meantime enjoy today's VId Of The Day taken live last night!

- Bandits Hideout! 24/12/15
Talking of Ramblin' Man - last year saw the excellent Jess & The Bandits perform on the Outlaw Country Stage on the Saturday. Rockrpix's John Bull also caught JATB here at the Borderline in October. Well today's Vid Of The Day is Jessica Clemmons accompanied by honorary bandit - Joshua Green on piano - performing 'O Holy Night' from her home in Texas. Wow - what a voice! Merry Christmas everyone!
