Hot on the heels of last year’s London Hyde Park 50,000 sellout, Jeff Lynne has not only just released 'Alone In The Universe' - ELO's first album since 2001’s 'Zoom' - but has subsequenty announced a European Tour in April/May next year. Suffice to say the WRC will be there to witness one of Jeff's London O2 Arena dates here - we can't wait!

"Open your eyes and there is this ramshackle wrinkly rocker who could be anyone’s grandad who has got up to do a turn after having too many sherbets on Xmas day!! Add to that as the night wore on his talking voice resembled more and more Keith Richards and you can see what a confusing character he is. Anyway on to the show and after a lengthy preamble (something we would get used to as the evening wore on) Reid launches into 'Raging Storm' which I have to confess was my favourite song of the night. What this track did show was the quality of his guitar playing and his voice despite his advancing years." That was part of Wrinkly's take on Terry Reid at the Half Moon, Putney, four years ago (pictured) and Terry returns to the same venue this evening following his guest appearance at 'An Evening For Jack' last week.

Just make sure you switch on your TV tonight and tune into BBC1 at 5.15pm for Pointless! Why - you may ask? Well none other than our very own correspondent Wrinkly The Silver (pictured) is one of the contestants on tonight's show! Also taking part alongside WTS is his old mucker Stuart (aka Wrinkly The Classical) - so that should ensure that all genres of music are well covered then. Anyway, our lips are sealed as to the outcome but we wish WTS well given he's been in the wars a bit health-wise recently. Suffice to say let's hope WTS's plug for the WRC doesn't end up on the cutting room floor!

This week's Route 66 podcast features the new album from South-African Blues Rock guitarist Dan Patlansky who will be on tour around the UK later this year supporting Joe Satriani (pictured). Our Track Of The Day also has an interview by Rory Auskerry with Bolton born lead singer Wayne Ellis of Limehouse Lizzy who are playing the Manchester Academy with Livewire (AC/DC) this weekend.

Yes our 'Video Of The Day' takes us back to 2013 and one of the stand out performances at Bluesfest - The Mentulls! The guys also returned to Bluesfest 2014 and are also headling the Red Lion, Gravesend, on Friday 15th May supported by The Rainbreakers, who are also appearing at this year's BluesRockfest on Saturday 4th July! Few bands from the 1960's can boast their original line-up, even the world-famous! The Others are one of the rare exceptions and are among the early pioneers of the UK R&B boom - and they will be playing at The Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ tonight! The band emerged from the London club scene that spawned the Stones, Yardbirds, Kinks, John Mayall and The Moody Blues and which helped lay the foundations of popular music for decades. The boys kept in touch and now, when music is rediscovering its 60's heart and balls, The Others authenticity becomes apparent once again. Doors open at 8.30pm and they are on stage at 9pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted £8 admission.

Steven Wilson's new album 'Hand. Cannot. Erase.' entered the the Official Midweek UK Album Chart at number 7 - with Steven deservedly on track for the highest-charting album of his career so far. The album - which is available in both physical and digital editions - has continued to receive overwhelmingly positive comments in the media although the jury is still out on the future of 'Porcupine Tree'! Anyway four tracks from 'Hand. Cannot. Erase.' plus an interview with Steven is featured in the latest Kscope podcast, which is our 'Track Of The Day'.

The first time the WRC came across Brighton based band Stark was when we were sent their EP 'Where The Grey Slates Meet' (we have to get some perks) with the single 'Circle Roads' jumping right out at you. Needless to say we had a moan at lead singer/guitarist Jamie Francis for leaving it out of their set - in fact we only recognised Ball and Chain from their second EP. To be fair though, the critical acclaim that Stark have recently received for their unique take on the Blues was clearly evident - their tightness and harmonies on new material such as Crash On The Levee, Sail The Jordan ('Video Of The Day') and Death Letter. Watch out for another perk as Stark release their new single as a free download on March 2nd from http://www.starkband.com

Having already heard lots of good things about Little Devils and given that our Promotions arm had already nabbed them for this year's BluesRockfest - it's fair to say that having seen Aynsley and Stark previously - my expectation of Little Devils was a tasty bit of meat in a Blues sandwich ... and I was not wrong. The powerful voice and stage presence of Yoka Qureshi would float most Blues fanatics boats but the engine room of bass guitarist Graeme Wheatley and drummer Sara Shaw plus the dexterity of lead guitarist Ray Qureshi equates to the Devils being a formidable Blues unit. As Yoka pointed out to me after the set, they write all their own stuff and are curently recording a new album, which includes the track 'My Perfect Year ' which was included in their storming set. Independence Day looks even more appetising now given this performance although before then Yoka and Litle Devils are supporting her Dutch compatriot and fellow flautist Thijs Van Leer and Focus at the end of February at the Norwich and Doncaster Festival.

Back in 1994 we were already attempting to 'Keep Music Live' by supporting promoter Fred Taylor at The Woodman in Blackfen, Kent, by writing reviews of his 'Ride To Rock' gigs. Anyway, we came across a band called T.Rextasy who blew us away with their tribute to the late great Marc Bolan. Just over 20 years later, T.Rextasy ('Video Of The Day') are the only band to have been authorised and endorsed by Marc Bolan's catalogue management, and are now recognised as the 'official' Marc Bolan/T.Rex tribute band. So we are proud and privileged to announce that they will headline our 4th Wrinklystock Charity Gig - this will be a sell out just like last year and tickets are already selling fast so don't miss out and get your tickets here.
