Lincolnshire based Blues musician Dave Hunt is on the Route 66 show this week and Rory Auskerry chats to Dave about his latest album 'Whiskey And Demons' which was released yesterday. Our Track Of The Day also celebrates ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard's 66th birthday this Thursday with one of his best drum performances. Time to Rock Out on a Friday! Wyatt at Planet Rock played a Tesla track yesterday and it reminded me of the time we first saw the Northern California band opening the Arrow Rock Festival in Biddinghuizen in June 2007 and again in Holland a year later in Zoetermeer. Anyway, after almost 30 years, Tesla are now touring America again with long time friends Def Leppard! Back in 1987, the two bands did a historic 'in the round' show that was the first time a rock concert was done in the centre of an arena. Def Leppard’s 'Hysteria' album was breaking platinum status and Tesla's first album 'Mechanical Resonance' was turning heads on MTV with the powerful song 'Modern Day Cowboy' - today's 'Video Of The Day'! AJ.

It was good to catch up with our old mate Bill Mead of The Sharpees at The Fiddler's Elbow the other night. Guitarist and vocalist Bill took in both Loose Moorings and Blacktop Deluxe whilst the WRC kept an eye on Bill's van - only joking Bill! The Sharpees now have ex-Rory Gallagher drummer Brendan O'Neill in their line-up and are currently touring. It sure was close, but Chantel McGregor saw off the mighty challenges of both Aynsley Lister and Kenny Wayne Shepherd to win the WRC's Best Blues Performance for 2014. That's how Wrinkly summed up a special London show at The Borderline on Tuesday night where U2 2 were in concert with all money raised going to Mencap. Even the biggest WRC critic of them all - Wrinkly The Elder - said it was the best gig he had been to for a long long time! Praise indeed!
