    It sure was close, but Chantel McGregor saw off the mighty challenges of both Aynsley Lister and Kenny Wayne Shepherd to win the WRC's Best Blues Performance for 2014. We'd also like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone who the took the time to vote.   • New WRC Members Cards To Be Despatched This Week! 31/1/16

    We have to hold our hands up and admit that there is currently a slight backlog in new WRC members cards being put in the post! Hopefully all of you waiting for your brand new WRC cards will receive them by the beginning of next week!     Join Richard Dunning here live in the Croydon Radio studio at 5pm tonight for his Blues On The Radio Show! Rich will be joined by Nick Hyde and David Raphael prior to the Sepia Swing Show Twins gig at The Tuesday Night Music Club, at the Hooley Village Club, St. Margaret's Road, Hooley Village, Coulsdon, Surrey, CR5 3RB. They'll be playing some of their favourite music and may even get out their guitar and harp! Along with that Mr. Dunning will be previewing the Women In Blues Show happening in Sevenoaks next weekend and slotting in some of the choicest new music around. As usual two hours of great music and news of what's happening in Blues.

    As well as the four UK Independent Blues Broadcasters Association's albums of the month (from John Primer & Friends, Jon Cleary, Dove and Boweevil and Martin Harley) tracks from the finalists in the UK Blues Challenge (Malaya Blue, Katie Bradley Band, Brothers Groove and Red Butler) Richard Dunning will be playing three tracks from the brand new Half Deaf Clatch album on his Blues On The Radio show here tonight at 5pm. His Croydon Radio broadcast will also introduce you to some other new releases from the likes of John Mayall Blues, Trevor Sewell, Andre Bisson, Mitch Laddie Band, Joe Bonamassa, Bob Malone, Wily Bo Walker, Slinky & P'tit Loup, The Reverend Shawn Amos, Angela Lewis Brown, BabaJack, The Howlin' Volts and why not add some Kirk Fletcher to the mix!   • Introducing .... The Simon Kennedy Band 8 August 2015

    Yes we welcome back our 'Introducing ...' feature and our Vid Of The Day - The Simon Kennedy Band! Formed in 2014 by Dundee born guitarist Simon Kennedy, enlisting Mirek Hodun on the organ, they set about writing and producing their debut album 'Make Up Your Mind' which was well received by critics and fans alike. BBC Radio 2’s Paul Jones said the band was “deservedly the recipients of a great deal of praise” and the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association voted it Album of the Month. In 2015 Edinburgh based session drummer Brian MacLeod was brought in to complete the line up - a guitar/hammond led trio playing their own brand of funky gospel Blues. With the success of their debut album they have been deservedly sought out to play major festivals like The Orkney Blues Festival, Perth’s Southern Fried Festival and Glasgow's Merchant City Festival!

  • Blues Club Calling At Gravesend! 3 July 2015

    And on the subject of BluesRockfest - Ian and Malcolm of The Blues Club podcast - who have kindly sponsored Little Devils set - will both be in attendance on Saturday! Anyway, they have again done the WRC proud with their latest broadcast which is today's Track Of The Day and includes both 2014 WRC Award winners Little Devils and Chantel McGregor, the Troy Redfern Band, The Rainbreakers plus also for Aj's benefit Gary Moore and 'Cold Day In Hell'. Hopefully the weather won't be as bad as that on Saturday!

    Yes the WRC currently have three weekend Ramblin' Man tickets which we cannot use. A healthy WRC contingent will be heading to Maidstone on Sunday 26th July to see Greg Allman, Marillion, Ian Anderson and Joanne Shaw Taylor - to name but a few. Valued at £115 each + a £10 booking fee - we'll take any sensible offers through the message box below! And it's still not too late to take advantage of our offer to save WRC members the cost of their booking fee e.g. £5.50 on a £60 daily ticket.   • BST Here We Come! 26 June 2015

    All roads lead today to Hyde Park and British Summer Time headliners The Who. Rumoured to be their last ever tour - both they and main support Paul Weller will also be appearing at Glastonbury on Sunday. Read our review here of the last time we saw them at the O2 Arena London in March plus we're also off to see Classic Quadrophenia at The Royal Abert Hall Sunday fortnight! Anyway give us a shout if you're going as well and watch out for Wrinkly The Silver's informed review plus a few vids and pics over the coming days!

    In just five night's time The Mentulls make a welcome return to The Red Lion in Gravesend on Friday after two hugely successful appearances at our annual BluesFest and these guys are making waves in the industry and are undoubtedly going to play a huge part in the future of Bluesrock! They don't visit the South of England that often so make sure you don't miss them - tickets here are £6 in advance or £7.50 on the door. They are supported by The Rainbreakers who will be back again on the 4th July at this years Bluesrockfest and tickets for BluesRockfest will be on sale on Friday night for a special £10 as opposed to the normal advance price of £15 - what are you waiting for?
