Joel Hoekstra released on Friday his new melodic hard rock studio album 'Dying To Live' from his electrifying new side project 'Joel Hoekstra's 13'. Hoekstra is best known to rock fans as the current guitarist for Whitesnake and also known for his work with Night Ranger, Trans Siberian Orchestra and the show 'Rock of Ages'. 'Dying To Live' features an all-star cast of rockers including Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Russell Allen (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass), Vinny Appice (drums) and Derek Sherinian (keyboards) and can be purchased here. Matt Edwards (pic courtesy of Vanessa Champion), is an independent songwriter/vocalist/guitarist playing original Blues Rock. He released his second album ‘Four Berry Jam’ on digital and physical formats in May of this year and is regularly gigging with his live trio the ‘Matt Edwards Band’ (our Vid Of The Day). The band is powerful, passionate, full of groove and has had a track featured on the cover CD of The Blues Magazine and have received a host of radio plays and some very humbling and kind reviews! The band played the Tuesday Blues at The 100 Club in April, Reivers Rock and Blues Festival in May and have supported some great artists recently such as Ryan McGarvey, Buddy Whittington, RavenEye, Ron Sayer, Erja Lyytinen plus former BluesFest headliner Aynsley Lister. All roads lead to The Red Lion, Gravesend, Kent DA11 9AA, tonight to see Loose Moorings and Southbound on stage at 8pm. Loose Moorings return to The Red Lion following their impressive set supporting Virgil And The Accelerators at the beginning of May. Meanwhile Southbound have stepped in to replace Larry Miller following their gig with BluesRockfest's Troy Redfern Band at the iconic 100 Club on Tuesday. Admission on the door is £6 and WRC members should get 15% off on production of a valid WRC members card!

Paul Cox sings Soul and Blues like no other and his power and charisma have seen him perform with some of the best talent in the world. Tonight Paul and his band will be launching their 'Best of' CD at The Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ. Cox has an impressive track record, playing with great guitar players including Snowy White, Ray Minhinnett, Henry McCullock, the late John Slaughter, French guitarist, Charlie Fabert and has opened for some of the greatest artists in the world, including Ray Charles and Eric Clapton, and has sung with Paul Rogers, Bonnie Tyler, Sam Brown, Ruby Turner and Debbie Bonham. A regular at venues and festivals across the UK and Europe, including Montreux, Ronnie Scott's, The London Palladium and the Royal Festival Hall - why not get along tonight? It was good to catch up with our old mate Bill Mead of The Sharpees at The Fiddler's Elbow the other night. Guitarist and vocalist Bill took in both Loose Moorings and Blacktop Deluxe whilst the WRC kept an eye on Bill's van - only joking Bill! The Sharpees now have ex-Rory Gallagher drummer Brendan O'Neill in their line-up and are currently touring.
