- Road To Twickers! 28/5/16
The WRC were lucky enough to be invited to a behind doors gig in Twickenham last night. Needless to say it was a briiliant evening which not only featured The Barnstormers consisting of Michael Schenker's Temple Of Rock singer Doogie White, former FM favourite Andy Barnett, former Praying Mantis drummer Benjy Reid and seasoned bassist PJ Phillips but also our good mate Dave 'Bucket' Colwell (Bad Company) and 1987 Wimbledon champion Pat Cash on guitar (check out our Vid Of The Day with a few more pics to come as well).
- Gibraltar Rocks! 10/5/16
Fingers crossed that our usual website service will return to normal tomorrow. However, would you believe that whilst on vacation - Wrinklystock 3 heroes The Bohemians boarded AJ's cruise ship at Gibraltar performing Queen's greatest hits at two knock-out gigs (pictured) in front of four thousand passengers! Consequently our Vid Of The Day takes us back to the MJC, Dartford, in 2013 whilst our Black On Blues Track Of The Day is another Women In Blues special.
- Going Down To The Crossroads! 21/4/16
The WRC had its own version of crossroads last night as we had both a gathering going to see Jeff Lynne's ELO at London's O2 Arena plus another taking in Wolfmother at The Forum in Kentish Town! With both ELO and Wolfmother bringing out new CD's 'Alone In The Universe' and 'Victorious' respectively recently - check out our Wolfmother Vid Of The Day plus watch out for reviews, pics and further vids over the coming days!
- Confirmed: Axl Rose To Stand In For Brian Johnson! 19/4/16
"After waiting an eternity for King Axl he finally strutted on about 10.45. Now don’t get me wrong once on stage you cannot fault GNR for value for money as they worked their way through 30 songs which took us through to 1.30pm, it just seems amazing that we have to wait until they are ready. Anyway this was a gig I had on my bucket list – I have never seen them before and I had to tick them off the list. I have to say that is the way I left the gig thinking done that move on." Given Wrinkly's review of the infamous GNR O2 Arena gig in May 2012 - not surprisingly we have one spare ticket for AC/DC on Saturday 4th June at the Olympic Park, London. And talking of Wrinklies - check out both Wrinkly The Junior and Wrinkly The Younger at 5.41 in our Vid Of The Day - you couldn't make it up!
- Playing Catch Up! 31/3/16
Unfortunately, because of everything else going on at Wrinkly Towers we had to hold over last week's Blues On The Radio Track Of The Day. Anyway better late than never today, although Steve Morrison who was due to be joining Richard Dunning in his Croydon Radio studio ahead of his showcase gig with Al Hughes at The Tuesday Night Music Club, didn't make it because of car trouble! But being the pro he is, Rich naturally filled the show with some of the greatest music around at the moment, including new releases, the IBBA picks of the month and even had Joe Bonamassa (pictured) introducing a track from his new album! How cool is that?
- Sky Won't Fall Review 17/3/16
"The album opens with the riff laden ‘Chains of Hope’ (Sky Won’t Fall) and all I want to say about this track is “crank it up” give it plenty of head banging and air guitar – job done!!! – surely this must be the opener to every gig in 2016! The pace doesn’t slacken as ‘Roll the Dice’ Again continues the theme with more gut wrenching riffs - brilliant stuff. So the dye is cast then it’s a rock album, but no the next track ‘Change’ launches into 70’s disco funk in my eyes followed quickly by ‘Running Back To You’ which is a wonderful Bluesy experience that relates to a relationship so many of us have known. So we must be going back to Rock now but no the genre changes again as Stevie puts on his cowboy hat with ‘Walk the Thin Line’ – now I get to hear a lot of Country music on my trips to the USA and I challenge you to find a better country song than this - this needs releasing over there - end of!!!! Follow that - well Stevie pulls another rabbit out of the hat with the wonderfully soulful ‘I’ll Pray For You’." - Ramblin' Man Fair To Return In 2017 29/7/16
With a review of last Sunday's proceedings to come from Wrinkly The Silver tomorrow plus two audio interviews from Inglorious and Illustr8tors (pictured) to complete our Ramblin' Man coverage - we're delighted to confirm that the festival in Mote Park, Maidstone, is returning next year over the weekend of 29th/30th July. For more information go here - but in the meantime check out our Saturday review here plus pics from Saturday here and Sunday here.
- Inglorious/Illustr8ors Ramblin' Man Interview 2/8/16
"Inglorious' pulsating rock, which focused on tracks from their recently released, self titled debut album, set the Saturday main stage tone for the day. Personal favourites were the hard, pounding ‘Warning’, and ‘Holy Water’, a singalong well known to many in the audience. It was obvious the band have already built a sizeable fan base - it is not difficult to see why." "It was then time to take advantage of our weekend press passes again and conduct our second band interview of the weekend on the Sunday. This time it was with front man Scott Sharp of The Illustr8tors, the band formerly known as Blackwolf. They were performing on the Rising Stage later in the afternoon so we were granted a quick 5 minute chat beforehand. Scott explained this was basically a band relaunch so they face interesting times ahead." Listen to today's Ramblin' Man Track Of The Day Wrinklycast interview plus check out both Big Ian's and Wrinkly The Silver's Saturday and Sunday review's respectivley here!

- Viajando Hermanos Campeones! 16 March 2015
OK - the translation might not be quite right but congratulations to the Travellin' Brothers from Bilbao who walked away with The European Blues Challenge trophy on Saturday night! Not only are they our 'Video Of The Day' but the guys kindly favourited one of our WRC tweets toasting their success! John Bull of Rockrpix - who as usual took some great pics at the gig in Brussels - said of the winners "Fantastic stuff - they know how to have a good time!" Hard lines also to UK representative Laurence Jones who as expected did us proud!
- Introducing .... Paradise Underground 4 March 2015
As they say "Every cloud has a silver lining". After the cancellation of the Stone Blind Scream Lounge gig, the WRC advertised for a replacement band and we were inundated with bands who wanted to take up the offer - but although the date was finally canned - we have now come across a number of great new bands to promote! One of which is Paradise Underground who are consequently our 'Introducing ...' feature today! They are a four-piece Indie Rock band with influences from The Strokes, The Libertines and Blur to name a few. The band consists of Ant McCallum (vocals and guitar), Rob Scarlett (lead guitar), Josh Longman (bass) and Tom Langstone (drums) - and their 'Nightlife Live' EP is now out on Soundcloud of which 'Jealousy Queen Of Dreams' is our 'TOTD'. Upcoming gigs also include Wednesday 11th March at the Dublin Castle and Sunday 22nd March at the Cavendish Arms.
- February WRC Bulletin Now Available! 2 Feb 2015
It's fair to say that it's always manic here at Wrinkly Towers - but ever since the launch of this new website on Friday 16th January things have been taken to another level. Therefore, you can imagine how difficult it has been to encapsulate all the goings on into our February WRC Bulletin! Anyway we had a go and this is the result! Phew!
