  • Hats Off To You Guys! 1 June 2015

There’s no doubt that the Brooklyn Bowl is impressive but the hybrid of it being both a gig venue and a bowling alley (although the bowling stopped when the band came on) resulted in a hundred and fifty or so punters being lost in the periphery of chairs and tables – with no one being up front and personal with the band. Despite this – if you were looking for Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits performed with professionalism and passion then HOTLZ ticked all the right boxes. The guys had played the Bowl before a few months back and apparently the increase in numbers on the night reflected how well they went down last time. • Danielz In Kent Already! 22 April 2015

The star of our forthcoming Wrinklystock IV - none other than Danielz - was interviewed on BBC Radio Kent on Monday night by Dominic King. And you can listen to what the T.Rextasy frontman had to say here (Danielz is featured at 2.26.12). • High Voltage Lives On! 12 Apr 2015

With its 're-incarnation' Ramblin' Man on the horizon in July - was it really nearly four years ago since High Voltage and today's 'Video Of The Day'? Yes Blues titan Joe Bonamassa joined classic rock legends Jethro Tull on the Prog stage for Locomotive Breath after Joe's set with Black Country Communion - remember them? As it happens, Joe’s first tour as a solo opening act, in support of his debut album, was for none other than – Jethro Tull! Unfortunately there's no Joe but there is Ian Anderson at Ramblin' Man - and it's still not too late take advantage of our offer to save WRC members the cost of their booking fee e.g. £5.50 on a £60 ticket. Go here for ticket information then simply contact us below with your ticket requirements and we will get back to you. And it's also not too late to become a WRC member - simply fill out a form here and we'll subsequently send you a WRC members card.

  • Canadian Roots And All! 26 August 2015

Our thanks to Matt from Savage Gringo for our invite to take in this year's winners of the Canadian Junos Roots & Traditional Album award - The Bros. Landreth - at The Borderline last night. This European debut show followed the release of their awesome11-song debut 'Let It Lie'. So did the album's bluesy wail of electric guitars, the swell of B3 organ, and the blood harmonies of brothers Joey and David Landreth come across as well live in the flesh? A review and more pics to follow but in the meantime have a gander at our Vid Of The Day!

  • Larry Miller Update 3 September 2015

The WRC were delighted to receive the folowing update on Larry: "Larry has made a big improvement. He's now walking normally and he even ran down the hospital corridor !!! He can move his right hand and each of his fingers. Larry is in much better spirits and reading. He's received many cards in the post and over a thousand facebook and e-mail messages. His rehabilitation will take sometime but there is now hope that he can come back and do what he loves doing best. Thank you to everybody for your continued support. It makes Larry stronger everyday." The WRC would also like to congratulate Larry's bass player Derek White (pictured with Larry at Bluesfest in 2013) for being nominated for the second year running in the bass section of the British Blues Awards after coming runner up last year.

  • The Empire Strikes Back! 11 September 2015

"I could only sit there and marvel at the dexterity and marvellous interplay between the drummers, overseen like some sort of musical bank manager by Robert Fripp. If you closed your eyes you’d never know there were three players such is their cohesion. With Rieflin also playing the mellotron, the trio was frequently given a chance to shine with extended percussion-only interludes Not one word was spoken to the audience all evening by any band member by the way. This felt like some sort of classic orchestral performance. The ‘congregation’ (as this was clearly a religious experience for many attending) were totally entranced for the most part as the music demanded." • All Aboard The Midnight Blues Train! 19 August 2015

Further to the news of the impending despatch of new WRC cards - we were delighted to receive another membership application from Pete Lovett of Powerhouse Blues Rockers Midnight Blues Train. MBT were actually showcased in our 'Introducing .....' feature here in March 2015 but Pete, who now lives in Plymouth, tells us he has many, many happy memories of attending gigs at The Red Lion in Northfleet and is absolutely staggered that Terry Lee still runs the place!! Pete added that he was also introduced to the WRC by his buddy Keith Howe of Blacktop Deluxe and they're hoping that the 'Tops' and Midnight Blues Train can organise a 'double header' very soon - and promises to get a video to us to prove it. No need for that Pete - we will be there mate!

  • Ramblin' Man Countdown - The Pineapple Thief 21 July 2015

No surprises we guess as we continue our pick of the bands over the three Ramblin' Man stages this Sunday. Yes we gave a massive hint yesterday that we would be heading towards the Prog Stage to hopefully catch the end of Knifeworld's set - so the next band on our list has to be WRC favourites The Pineapple Thief (our Vid Of The Day) who are on stage at 3.35pm. The WRC actually saw TPT's very first gig at The Whitchurch Festival twelve years ago but they were actually formed in 1999 by founder and chief songwriter Bruce Soord as an experimental bedroom project! TPT have pursued a distinctive and idiosyncratic path over the years; always evolving, always progressing, but never forgetting that the most potent weapon in any artist’s arsenal is the lovingly crafted song itself. Widely hailed as one of the most powerful and invigorating live rock bands the UK has produced in a long time, TPT have refined and redefined their sound over and over again since those tentative early days. Recent albums like Someone Here Is Missing (2010) All The Wars (2012) and their latest Magnolia (2014) have contributed hugely to their reputation and renown, garnering frothing plaudits from the rock media and drawing in fans from across today’s vast alternative music spectrum.

  • Kaz Live Stream Tonight! 18 June 2015

Recently showcased in one of our 'Introducing ....' features and given that the WRC are proponents of 'Keeping Music Live' - Kaz and her Band O’Men are playing The South Woodchester Convent, Stroud, Gloucestershire at 8pm tonight - and if you can't make it to the venue - then you can still be 'there'. With support gigs under her belt such as Sir Van Morrison, Nanci Griffiths and Chris Farlow - Kaz launched her debut album 'Get Ready' and received a raft of top notch notices. Recently awarded the 2014 Rising Star Award from the world famous Blues & Soul Magazine and being a British Blues Award nominee in 2013 has brought much attention from the music industry in the UK. And you can also be 'there' tonight by booking a live stream here. Enjoy!
