- Thinking Of Larry 28 August 2015
All of us at the WRC were sad to learn of the following news posted on Larry Miller's Facebook page on Wednesday: "It’s with shock and great sadness that we are posting this statement. Recently, Larry Miller suffered a stroke and he is now undergoing an intensive rehabilitation programme. However, it’s too soon for anyone to know the full extent of Larry’s long term prognosis, but for the immediate future he is unable to perform. Please feel free to send any messages to Larry via e-mail at info@rockingtheblues.com or via Facebook. We will ensure they are communicated to Larry appropriately. In light of these circumstances, we would ask that you respect the privacy of both Larry and his family at this time. We will of course keep you updated of Larry’s progress." The WRC would like to take this opportunity to wish Larry (who can forget Bluesfest 2013) a speedy recovery. As a consequence of this terrible news, Southbound (see vid below) have stepped in to play with Loose Moorings (Vid Of The Day) at their Red Lion gig this Saturday 29th August.
- Pistols Hustle A Blast! 7 August 2015
The WRC first saw Gentlemans Pistols at High Voltage in 2011 corresponding with the release of today's Track Of The Day 'I Wouldn't Let You'. Four year's down the line and the band's third album 'Hustler's Row' is to due to be released worldwide via Nuclear Blast on 16th October. Vocalist and guitarist James Atkinson added "Hustler's Row is a cathartic journey through the last five years of my life. The album begins with questions of where my life is going and ends with me heading straight down Hustler's Row; on a turbulent voyage of the sweetest sufferings and the most inexpensive of thrills. The artwork is by John Pearson and it encapsulates everything I put across in the title track, that Hustler's Row is a place for freaks, losers, lovers and those searching for something more from life. So we invite you to join us on the Row." You can also pre-order the album on limited edition white vinyl here.

- Route 66 To Wembley Way! 24 June 2015
Route 66 is also literally heading down from Stockport to Wembley tonight for ZZ Top and Thunder as host Rory Auskerry is going to the gig with his brother Hamish. Naturally Rory played tracks from both bands in his latest show on Sunday night including a cool dedication to the WRC! Anyway today's Track Of The Day also includes brand new tracks from veteran music producer Mike Vernon and Orkney based Blues rockers, The Andrew Taylor Group plus birthday tracks for Mick Fleetwood, Jeff Beck, Ray Davies and Joey Kramer of Aerosmith. As Rory says - This is probably the best Rock & Blues show on UK radio. Must be worth a pint in The Blue Check Bar later Rory!
- Ramblin' Man Countdown - Blues Pills 19 July 2015
Today we start looking forward to Ramblin' Man and in particular next Sunday when most of the WRC will be attending. As usual it is difficult to choose which one of the seven bands on each of the three stages to see during the day (see itinerary). So playing devil's advocate we are going to go for the Classic Rock Stage first up at 1pm. Blues Pills (our Vid Of The Day) are a Swedish rock band, formed in Örebro in 2011, although they released their first album three years later. In 2011, half-brothers Zack Anderson (bass) and Cory Berry (drums), formerly of Radio Moscow, were in Iowa and met singer Elin Larsson, who was staying in California. Together they recorded two demo tracks and published them on YouTube, after which label 'Crusher Records' offered them a deal. The band toured Spain and France, where they met 16-year-old guitarist Dorian Sorriaux, whom they invited to Örebro and made a member of the band. The name of the band came from their friend, Jens Heide, who had a music blog called BluesPillz with obscure 60's and 70's underground music!
