  • Gorilla Riot Interview 26/4/21

"Back to the Rising Stage and for me, possibly the find of the festival. Gorilla Riot are a 5 piece bundle of excitement from Manchester reminiscent of early GnR although with a strong vein of Blues flowing through them. With three guitars (steady Mother! – two Les Paul's and an SG) they make a big sound and frontman Arjun Bhishma made a big impact on the clearly supportive audience. The set went from hard rocking to groove Rock with hypnotic beats. Lead guitarist Liam Henry on the SG produced some fine work without being overbearing. Again we have proof that young guitar Rock is alive and flourishing." That was part of our glowing Gorilla Riot Ramblin' Man Fair review back in July 2018 and we were lucky enough to interview band members Liam and Degsy in the Press Area after their set, which is today's Podcast Of The Day.

  • A Whole World Waiting 25/4/21

Former Folk-Rock vocalist Leo Sawikin, brings his wide-eyed worldview to mellowed-out acoustic music with his latest single, and today's mediative Video Of The Day, for 'A Whole World Waiting'. It's the latest in a line of releases leading up to the singer’s debut full length, 'Row Me Away', which is set to drop in Autumn 2021. Leo originally gained attention as frontman of The Chordaes, before deciding to step out on his own. Inspired by Brian Wilson, Carole King, Burt Bacharach and Jimmy Webb, his debut double A-side, ‘Born Too Late/Take What You Want’, showed him to be more than capable of that, conveying wistful nostalgia and emotional intuition rarely seen in the mainstream songwriters of today.

  • Cicadastone Album Review 23/4/21

"This album feeds the Rock Grunge appetite by using a similar recipe to Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots, and we see here the band's discovery and deliverance of a unique well adjusted set within a melodically driven dark soundscape. The actual release date of this album was moved to Friday 19th March this year, and Mat feels that this latest release is darker than the first and is a "good next chapter" for the band; using their time progressively during the Covid delay, they also already have a stack of material primed for their next release!" Check out today both Di Foxy's complete take on Cicadastone's latest album, 'Cold Chamber', released last month on Golden Robot Records, plus our Video Of The Day of 'Slave In A Cage'.
