  • Kris Barras Interview 20/6/21

"The Torquay 4 piece produce some excellent swampy Blues Rock that really made them stand out from the crowd. Barras sports an oilcan/junkbox guitar for some excellent slide guitar before switching back to his trusty strat for regular Blues rocking. Piano/keys from Josiah Manning bring a melodic accompaniment to the great groove. They were hugely appreciated by the large crowd lapping up the sun, and the excellent beers." That was part of our Kris Barras Band review at Ramblin' Man Fair back in July 2018 (pictured), and the day before their set, we caught up with Kris for an interview, which is today's Podcast Of The Day.

'Homebrew 7' differs slightly as none of the 21 tracks have previously been released in any form and there are no plans for any to be rerecorded in the future. • Black Monday 18/6/21

Following the Government's announcement on Monday that they would be extending Lockdown restrictions for another four weeks, the UK’s ‘Best New Festival’, Black Deer, due to take place over the weekend of 25th - 27th June, at Kent's Eridge Park, has been cancelled. Understandably, it's a devastating blow for the organisers, ticket holders, artists, musicians, crews, vendors and media. Indeed, considering their circumstances, we also understand that they were not offered the opportunity to continue as one of the Government ‘pilot’ events, such as the Donington Park Download music festival weekend that begins today (see today's Download Pilot Rocks! Tracks Of The Day). Needless to say, we look forward to Black Deer coming back stronger than ever in 2022!

  • Vambo Interview 17/6/21

"Their closing track - a copy of Deep Purple's 'Burn' - showcases what final vocal talents he has. You don't cover such iconic Rock tracks like that lightly and he nailed it. I would have been happy just to have seen that but their short set was full of their own excellent material, including 'Fast Car' and their new single 'Why, Why, Why' which is getting some considerable radio airplay. With bassist James Scott completing the DM booted front of stage and drummer Steve Price driving the whole ensemble from behind the kit, they are an excellent addition to the festival and, probably the best band of the two stages today. Yes, they are that good. Another of my must see again bands." That was part of our 2018 Stone Free Festival Vambo review, and we were lucky enough to catch up with the guys after their explosive set which is today's Podcast Of The Day.
