  • Allman Betts Interview 8/7/21

"Back on the Outlaw stage was one of the best sets of the day - courtesy of The Allman Betts Band. Led by Devon Allman, son of founding Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and singer, Gregg Allman, and Duane Betts, son of founding Allman Brothers Band guitarist and singer, Dickey Betts, the band play the sort of Country Rock that gave the festival (sorry, fair...) its name. And they are all truly chips off the old block. Mmmm, chips..... The line up is awash with talent with three guitarists, two percussionists, keys and bass. With assorted guitars played through Fender amps, the distinctive Southern slide sound was divine. As well as covering some well known family classics, and some of their own new material, they covered 'Purple Rain' and brought on Black Stone Cherry's Ben Wells for one helluva Southern Blues rock jam. I could have stayed and watched them all day. Quite mesmerising." That was our Allman Betts Band Ramblin' Man Fair review from nearly two years ago, and later at the back of the Main stage we caught up with Devon Allman, Duane Betts and Berry Oakley for an interview which is today's Podcast Of The Day.

  • Zumbi Ahead Of Time 8/7/21

Living in Los Angeles, Dimitri Craven, Jerry and Jason started a band together named Zumbi, and after signing with New Dream Records in April, they have released their new R&B meets Rock type style album, 'Ahead Of Time', of which the single, 'Desert Flower', is today's Video Of The Day. Complementing the band's genre, the influence and their love of trip-hop/electronic, alternative and downtempo music, happened at a time when electronic music had just started to hit the scene and was becoming really popular in all the hottest clubs. Indeed, with plans to tour, the band certainly don't pull any punches in their subject matter, with the single inspired by the book of the same name by Waris Dirie, about female genital mutilation in Africa, plus the tracks 'Go Deep', 'Make You Think', 'Follow The Leader' and '25 Fires', each addressing no communication, prostitution, politics and 90's southern black church fires, respectively.

  • Italians Kick On 7/7/21

Marked by a compelling Psych-R’n’R groove, and taken from their forthcoming new album, 'Setting Tina' is the new single released on Monday by Kick, featuring Scott Reeder on bass (longtime member of Kyuss and currently of Fireball Ministry), which is also today's Video Of The Day. Consisting of Chiara Amalia Bernardini (vocals, bass) and Nicola Mora (guitars, electric piano, synths, samplers), their sound combines rough elements and others more dreamy in a sound that could ideally be defined as “sweet noise”, a style of their own, melding the noise with the softness of the atmosphere, without any limits of genre. Indeed, the Italian duo's influences range from the hypnosis of trip hop to the New York no-wave, up to Stoner and Desert Rock, and the new single sees a natural change of direction compared to what they have previously released, with their sound becoming less electronic, but at the same time more analogue, minimal and heavy.
