  • Isle Of Long Shadows 7/8/21

Long Shadows Dawn is a new alliance featuring Scottish vocalist Doogie White and Swedish guitarist Emil Norberg, and their debut album as a duo, 'Isle Of Wrath', released yesterday, consists of timeless Hard Rock, such as today's Video Of The Day of 'Master Of Illusion', that evokes memories of prominent iconic ‘70s acts who continued to dominate in the following decade. Envisaging hearing White sing new songs in the style of Rainbow, a group he had joined in the mid-90’s, his Frontiers Music label paired him with Norberg, a lifelong fan of the band. Gifted with a rich and distinctive range, White had also co-founded Cornerstone and performed as part of Yngwie Malmesteen’s Rising Force (2002-7). He then joined Tank and, more recently, Michael Schenker Fest and Alcatrazz. Norberg cut his teeth performing aggressive Power Metal, and Long Shadows Dawn is his first foray outside of Persuader, his band for the past two decades.

  • Big Boy Bloater Interview 5/8/21

"Last minute stand in Big Boy Bloater made a fine fist of covering for Chas and Dave who were forced to withdraw due to illness. Wishing the East End duo well, the Surrey Cockney entertained the crowd with his dirty strat Blues and humorous lyrics and banter. This big fella has some fine chops, as well as a history of session guitar playing in his bag of tricks, that showcases why he is a regular at festivals as well as across the gamut of Blues playing radio stations. Currently touring his new album ‘Pills’, Bloater had also performed a small acoustic set to the VIP tent the previous day which raised a number of smiles. Dedicating his song ‘The Saturday Night Desperation Shuffle’ to all the ugly ones in the audience, he endeared himself to all. It’s nice when you are made to feel special." That was part of our Big Boy Bloater & The Limits Ramblin' Man Fair review back in July 2018, and the day before their set we caught up with Bloater for a chat, which is today's Podcast Of The Day.

  • JP Williams Blues Band featuring Ekat Pereyra Album Review 4/8/21

"....this is an unpretentious collection of songs grounded in the Blues, played with mature insight and skill, which offer a fresh twist to a sometimes jaded format. I really liked this set of numbers. The recordings were made remotely over a three-year period and are none the worse for it. In fact, the album has a clear and clean production that allows all the instruments equal space in the mix." Read today’s latest album review, as Simon Green gives you his complete take on JP Williams Blues Band’s album featuring Ekat Pereyra, 'JP & Ekat', that was released earlier this year, plus check out today's Video Of The Day of 'Mighty Dangerous Boogie'.
