Given, today's St. Patrick's Day, Belfast born singer-songwriter and producer Gareth Dunlop releases his own long-awaited second album, ‘Animal’, on Friday 22nd April, that consists of a diverse set of songs including the soulful and anthemic ‘Right About Ready’ and ‘Look Back Smiling’, which evoke the ‘80s yet exude a timeless quality, the atmospheric new single ‘Sorrow’ (Video Of The Day) and ‘Prisoner Of My Past’, which both channel late period Roxy Music, the laid-back ‘60s dream Pop vibe of ‘Humans’, plus a memorable title song that adds an electronic bounce to its subtle groove. Gareth has also produced new records by friends and fellow Northern Irish musicians Foy Vance (‘Signs Of Life’, 2021) and Lee Rogers (‘Gameblood’, out Spring 2022), and all three artists will be on tour together in the UK and Ireland later this Summer.

To set us off into the cold dark night on a high we were treated to the rapturous ‘Choo Choo Mama’ from the 1972 album ‘Rock and Roll Music to the World’. A fast paced boogie rocker that had many heads bopping and hips swaying!" That was part of our recent take on Ten Years After at London's The 100 Club at the end of January, and to complement that review, courtesy of our Swiss correspondent Marlène Rivet, today we have not only some of her excellent photos taken at their Mühle Hunziken, Rubigen gig on Thursday 3rd March in our Photo Gallery, but we also have Marlène's Video Of The Day.
